When I mentioned Afghanistan, I was referring to our prior misadventures in the 80s that led to some spiciness in 2001. My apologies for the confusion, although I also think our misadventures there post-9/11 will eventually be regarded as just as harmful, if not more so.

Our misadventures in Iraq have not yet produced blowback that is anywhere proportional to the breadth and depth of our meddling, so that's another case where we'll simply need to wait for history to play out.

While our handling of the Soviet threat during the Cold War seems to have held up reasonably well to the passage of time, it's increasingly looking like we really dropped the ball through the dissolution of the USSR and by failing to move Europe into a sustainable peacetime posture. The whole area looks ripe to be taken over by something like an alliance between the Chinese and Indians at some point in the next few decades, with various entities in the Middle East taking advantage of the confusion by breaking off some of the Mediterranean as its own.

I sort of think it's already started with the proxy war in Ukraine. Eventually Russia will be depleted to the point it can't even defend itself. Nato will bring Ukraine into the fold, and things will turn in Russia probly by US funded and equiped rebel forces within the Russia borders. They will be on Putin's doorstep and Putin will hit the fuckitall button. Now Russia officers running the nuke sites have the option to follow, or ignore the orders they're receiving, and they have to weigh the results of their actions. Some are die hard Putin supporters, I believe many are not. So there's a good chance SOME nukes will be used, but I don't think it'll be an all out nuke fest. I imagine Europe will get most of 'em, I don't know anything about ICBM's, nor do I know what sort of defense capabilities we have since i'm certain that any good shit we have is quite classified.

Either way, I think we're in the early stages of WW3. I find it hilarious that the same dipship dems that were concerned that Trump would start WW3 are the same simps that are advocating the use of Nukes to get the party started. I have some more things to add but i'm concerned comments like it will get me a private visit from a couple of glowies.

The dude was pretty far out there from the perspective of planet alignment, the High Holy days on the Jewish calendar and how it affects the markets. China is the prominent economic challenger to the West, so don't expect they'll just sit out this one. I'll assume that they don't want to eliminate their biggest customer, but an exchange that leaves the militaries of both Russia and the West substantially diminished would be of immense benefit.

Why are there no peace negotiations? One or more of the combatants has been bought/instructed to (perhaps unknowingly) continue war in Ukraine at all costs. Meanwhile how many of our assets are now tied up in eastern Europe?

Not hindsight, with a son in the military, major buildings crashing down still fresh on everyone’s mind, it was so obvious we needed to get in Afghanistan, (with the Army Special Forces who‘s mission is to do this stuff) get the bad out and get gone. I suppose Brenda Lea and I were rare birds, but we could see nothing but folly in the second Iraq. Plus we knew our son would wind up being there, and he was.

Despite the thoughts that the first war with Iraq was an oil defense, so much good was created by the coalition of all the nations, but US politicians can never leave good enough alone.
