Where do you trust to buy ammo for a good price online?

My local shops aren't exactly cheap when it comes to ammo. I bought two boxes of 143gr Hornady ELD-X to take shooting and they were $47.99/box. I've looked online and found it as cheap as $31.99-ish a box and 200rd cases for $319.

Anywhere in particular you'd suggest? The above is a pretty significant savings and would certainly allow me to shoot more often, which I would like to do!

good prices no one those days are long gone , but I can live with for now some of the prices that ammo seek finds . it also isn't too bad for primers when there are any to show .

Ammo Seek is always where I start. But there are a few online stores that don't show up, like Locked and Loaded.

Of those, I try to find the lowest total cost: ammo + tax + shipping. There are still a few online ammo stores that don't charge sales tax. Sometimes, your costs can be lower buying in bulk and getting free shipping.

There are a few online stores that have a great price on the ammo, but over charge on the shipping. So shop accordingly and run the totals.

Remember to save your brass in the original box after shooting it. Should be able to sell it for $40-50 per 100 PCs (+shipping) which will help you offset the cost of it new.

That’s assuming you don’t want to reload, but that’s a whole can of worms.

If you can get them for $1.60 a round, then sell used brass for .40 you’ll be at $1.20 a shot. That’s not too bad at all. But as you found, a lot of LGS like to charge exorbitant amounts for anything that says it’s precise AND good for hunting.

i trust Grafs.com for fair prices on a variety of ammo stuff.

Another fan of SG Ammo here. I'm also signed up for Palmetto State Armory's daily deal email list and they'll occasionally have some great ammo deals. Finally, check out Bone Frog Gun Club. Unusual name but great pricing and service on Federal GMM .308 and other higher-end offerings.

I get where you are coming from….. but just as an FYI…..I used to do ALL my loading on top of a $100 tool chest from Home Depot. It was like a 15x30 top. Cut a piece of 3/4 plywood and put it on top of the chest and mounted my Rock Chukker press to it. Back when I first got married and was financially embarrassed, used to mount the shit on the kitchen table with a cpl “C” clamps. Balance scale, press, and a hand loading primer seater (which I still use) and my ammo was money! So space is no excuse. Now for patience….turn on the Everyday Sniper podcast and think of it as therapy. Once you smack that 1000 yd plate with YOUR ammo….won’t be any turning back. Cost wise, not what it once was, but still a significant savings….as long as you don’t figure time. If family time and children functions take a significant part of your daily life….buy factory and enjoy Your quality family life….ain’t no gettin that back….

If you don’t 100% want to reload then definitely don’t imo. I think it takes a full commitment to do it properly and you have to know the amount of time to do it and the investment in equipment is significant. If anyone tells you different there probably not really into reloading, again imo. If you have the money buy good factory ammo and shoot more don’t bother with reloading. This is advice coming from someone who’s been doing it multiple decades now and loves it but it’s not for everyone.

Friend on another forum did something very similar as to what you're talking about. Told me I could do that as well - but I think the patience, outside of the initial cost, is the main reason I don't want to.

Target Sports USA is also GTG. And if you go through a lot of ammo it's probably worth buying a membership. Free shipping and reduced prices on ammo.

For pistol ammo, I've had pretty good luck with LAX. Also buying direct from Norma.

If you're looking for good quality match ammo to feed your AR, tough to beat PSA's AAC line of ammo - starts at .55 per round.

For 5.56 plinking ammo I've always been a fan of IMI which you can generally buy from Midway. Look for sales. And if you sign up they send you a discount code around your birthday.

And of course ammoseek is a great resource - although you do need to be careful about shipping charges. I find that any ammo that has an unusually low price inevitably hoses you when you add the shipping.

Buying ammo off the internet just plain sucks. I only order weird stuff I can't get locally.
The last time I ordered "cases" of 28 gage off ammoland it came in an oversized box full of broken and split individual boxes with a hundred loose shells rolling around. Bullshit. Buying ammo off the internet is bullshit. I'd rather drive to where I can buy it from a person over a counter and there is some agency.
