Outside of Marathon there were huge dog towns, TPDW in alpine could tell you who to get with about them. I do know that they had some plague there coupple years ago

Check out the areas north of Sierra Blanca. Huge 100,000 acre ranches loaded with Dogs. Call the local warden in the area and they should be able to help you out if a google search doesnt turn anything up.
