Years ago, we had a member here (before 'the changes') named Ugashik Bob. He and his wife lived remotely and independently in the Aleutian Islands off Alaska.
In a number of different threads 'way back when' he showed his solar, wind, and generator set-ups. Not to mention quite a number of other 'fun aspects of life' that he/they entailed and endured.
I also know he had a friend in Winnipeg here, but with so many different aspects of life getting in the way and taking precedence, unfortunately some lines got lost.
