Where's the best place fir me to pick up a Remington barrel? I was looking at the 16.5" barrel on a .308 at Cabelas last night and liked it. It had a threaded 16.5" 10 twist barrel. Instead if buying another rifle, i already have the exact same thing with a .22-250 barrel that is due for replacement anyway.

    So, where could i buy a Rem 10-twist .308 either 20" or 16.5"?

I'm not looking for a custom barrel, just an inexpensive one for fun on a suppressed rifle. Thanks!

Why not just buy a better barrel? Most barrels will only run you from 3-450$ Not sure would a Remington barrel would go for. Either way your still going to need a gunsmith to install the new barrel, and the machining that goes along with it. Your going to be in it for around the same amount of money as a new rifle anyways. I would recommend either "going all the way" with installing a QUALITY barrel and truing up the action or just buying the new rifle.

Check with some smiths and see what they have for take off barrels. Might be able to get them cheap as people don't usually want them.

Thats exactly what I did with my 308 sporter, got mine from Arnold Arms, also got a take-off Classic stock to boot, 65 bucks out the door. Oh, it's a 10 twist and shoots 178HPBTs very well.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'd love to have a custom barrel, but the issue here is lack of money. I've got too much wrapped up in my Creed and reloading. I just want a cheap take off barrel around 18" that my local smith can screw on easy and inexpensively. I'll ask around to some smiths...didn't think about that route.
