Im not much for hate or a pissin match. That leaves me out of a lot....... ?
I also busy loving 3 kids and momma, am studying for grad school entrance exams, and working out again now that my ribs healed.
Maybe Mtn Crick is pondering deeper thoughts or appreciating a touring exhibit of impressionist paintings?

It sucks as I really enjoyed his radio and fieldcraft / preparation discussions, lots of good stuff to learn & he always liked to toss out things to make you think about stuff you hadn't considered.
What the heck? Why? He isn’t far from me. Maybe I should go and see what’s up? Not that we’ve ever met but I’ve talked about meeting up with him and shooting a few times. Think he is about an hour from me.

Eventually it would be nice to setup a more private radio group here on the hide, something in PMs with perhaps times, frequencies and protocols to try meeting up. GF used to do a few of those with some here. Perhaps we could make it a paid supporter thing only & with licence only & the mods could vet people before allowing them in.
Could vet ourselves . Ham would keep it licensed. We could invite thru PM . It would seem that we know who is legit and who is batshit Lib or a closet Lib . There's one or two on here that ride the fence like a fuckin dildo .

I have been meaning to. I honestly don't know why I let it expire. I had an Advanced ticket. I know that there has been a lot of changes. Is Advanced still a class of license?
I don't have a HAM radio. But the "riding the fence like a dildo line is classic." .LOL
The old "Advanced" got removed, and now is closely matched by the "General" class.
If you let yours expire for more than a couple years, you'll probably have to take at least the Technician exam, but if you know your old call sign and can show you were licensed, there is a pretty good chance you won't have to take the general exam again.
If you look up your local ham group, they can probably help you with the steps.

In the old days, I never took either the novice or Technician Class tests. I went to directly to General and then Advanced. Back then we had to pass the morse code 13 wpm test. I know hear that there is no longer a code test. At any rate, I thought you could take whatever test you wanted to versus in sequence. Is this a new rule?
I think the main thing is that if you once had a higher end licence and let it expire, if you have the details in order still, all you have to do is take the most basic of the 3 current tests and then you are back reinstated to your previous level.
