My SCAR is my go to hunting rifle for pigs and deer both in the TX brush. I do enjoy taking it out to shoot long range too. May be fun to enter a gas gun comp occasionally with it but that would be more for fun than serious competition. Its definitely my go to jack of all trades rifle. I shoot it suppressed 100% of the time.

Anyway looking at rebarrelling it in 6.5CM. There are a few options now for barrels- Deadshot, Handl, and occasionally HDD. For those that have used one of those barrels- what kind of accuracy are you getting? What length did you go with? Debating going up to 18" max- I do not want to change the handiness of this rifle with a can on. Will either go with a 16.5" or 18" barrel.

I'll likely end up selling off the 2.5x10 NF on it when I change to 6.5CM and going with something with a bit higher magnification range at the same time. Want to keep the weight down but I have wished for at least a 15x top end number of times in the field observing game even though I leave it at the lowest magnification unless I have time to crank it up....

Hey not looking to hi-jack your thread, but what muzzle device did you go for shooting suppressed?

I have a Saker 762 with a Trifecta brake, but was getting huge POI shifts; and a few baffle strikes. SilencerCo responded that there's no shoulder on the 17, and that instead of a timing device like a brake that needs a specific clock, to remove the barrel nut and use a flash hider. This will provide more concentricity.

PMM also has a shoulder ring i bought, which i will use with the new flash hider.

    Any thoughts?

As far as 6.5CM barrels, if you're looking at going stainless, consider Handl.

No worries- yeah thats an issue on the Scar. I got away with it on my 17 just fine but the 16 was a disaster. Had a very famous smith cut, pin, weld that one at 14" and baffle strike on my surefire first shot. Had to be redone (as well as can fixed) and a surefire washer made specifically for the Scar used to give it a shoulder. That said before it happened had a Gemtech Quicksand and SiCo Omega both on the 17 with no issues or doing anything special. I would contact Surefire and get a Scar washer from them if possible. Dont think they ist them anymore but they do have them.

You have any first hand experience with the Handl?

I use the PPM shoulder-ring with an ASR flash hider and SiCo Omega. Works like a champ.

No help on the 6.5 barrel though, sorry!

Nope, sorry. I got pretty close to doing a 20" for a DMR build from them, though, but scratched that plan in favor of a 300 BLK 16S instead. When they release their 16S 300 barrel I will get it.

Thanks mate, that's exactly what I'm going to do. Glad you're having success.
