I'm going to take the plunge and get a switch barrel setup on my Surgeon 591/R. I'm in process of buying the tools I'll need for this right now. What thread lube do you recommend wiping on the breech end threads before fitting and torquing it to the action?

I came across this, but I'm not sure it's appropriate:

Also, the Tubbs barrel vise appears to be what I have in mind. Anyone here have any complaints or user tips with it?

    Thanks for the help!

Hi, I use Copaslip - a product used in racecar brake applications. A small tube would last a lifetime in rifle barrel fitting or a tin (500 ml) would probably last you a 1000 years.
PS: I have been in the engineering field for over thirty years - this compound is the best!

Any type of anti-seize will work fine for this application. You could also get away with a quality automotive grease.

For consistency, the ARP moly thread lube is terrific:
