Which Barreled Action To go With?

I have a McRee stock coming from deadly for my stock 700P in .308 so that leaves me with the HS PSS stock and standard bottom metal. I've been having fun with adding texture and paint to the stock and thought about turning it into a short barreled (20-22 inch)deer/tactical

rifle. Quite frankly I don't know what I could do, all I know is I have to stay with a short action. It wouldn't be the end of the world if I stayed with a .308 but I looking for options and prices...is it even worth it? I don't need a highgrade custom barrel or action, stock barrel is fine if it can shoot under 1moa. Thanks.

You shouldn't have much trouble getting a factory barrel to shoot 1 MOA. Bed it, & then test with a few types & weights of your favorite factory ammo. Or load your own.

If you've got the cash, often you can find a pretty good local smith who'll true up an action & put on say a Schilen for under 5 bills. Usually that combo done right is accurate enough to rival a shooters skill level.
