Hi Guys, I’m a Sniper and use a Remington 40X KS in .308 Win for shoots at 300 m. Actually I’m using Lapua cartridges and TMK Sierra 175 Bullets. For the Reloading I’ve used Lee dies in the past, but recently a friend of mine told me to better use the Redding Competition die set. So I purchased it. For the Lapua cartridges he told me to take the 335 Bushing. It’s perfect :)
My question to you: I’ve got a lot of RWS, Remington and Hornady Cartridges. As I’m probably too stupid to calculate the correct bushing size by measuring the cartridges I’d like to know if some expert in this forum is able to tell me which bushing size I’d have to use for each type of cartridge.
I hope to get help from you. Unfortunately I cannot ask the friend of mine I mentioned above as he passed away by an accident some weeks ago :-(
Thank you very much for your interest and the answers.

I tried to measure, but the cartridges I have are all shot, and the sizes are different among the same type of cartridge. Aren’t there any standards? For example 333 for Hornady, 334 for ??? etc.?

Measure the thickness of the neck, double it to account for both sides and add in the bullet diameter.

Ex, the neck measures .014

.014x2=.028

.028+.308=.336

Edit: Then subtract however much tension you want for the bushing size.
