Which neck bushings for Norma 6XC brass

Re: Which neck bushings for Norma 6XC brass

For a general rule of thumb for "S" type sizing dies this will get you in the ball park.

Measure your case neck thickness,
multiply that by 2,
add to that one bullet diameter total that up, and subtract .002" for case neck tension. At a later time you may feel that you need more or less that .002" neck tension. Some shooters keep bushings for .001 and .003" on hand for older brass or freshly annealed brass.

This is for a friends 30-06. He bought several hundred rounds of Winchester brass for his new rifle.
Case necks .015"
X2
=.030"
+.308 bullet diameter
=.338"
-.002" neck tension
=.336" for starting bushing size

Different manufacturers of the brass and bullets may and probably will have different dimensions. That's why it's best to measure what you have on hand and go that route. The formula above will give you a solid place to start.

Good luck.
