Rifle Scopes Which of the two would you buy? --- Monarch 3 vs. Viper (base model)

Hi guys, I am building a Rem. 700 varmint budget gun for shooting 500y.

They both cost the same to me given some friendly hookups (sub-400-dollars).

I already bought the Nikon, But I can take it back. Please also note that the viper is a non-PST.

Monarch 5-20x44 Side Focus Matte BDC from Nikon

OR

Vortex Optics - Viper 6.5-20x50 PA Dead-Hold BDC

For the price, every time I've bought something other than a Monarch, I've been disappointed. The Monarchs have very good glass and hold up well.

Between the two, I would stick with the Monarch

- wider field of view
- longer eye relief
- smaller objective = lower mounting on receiver
- finer adjustment turret
- better contrast image (subjective, just my opinion)


Now this is considering your max shots are to 500, if punching out further, the Vortex 6.5-20x44 has twice the elevation adjustment, but you will have to get some 30mm rings.

Ok, I am leaning towards keeping the already-purchased monarch. What size rings do I need to fit it on warne mounts on a REM700 with varmint barrel?
