Which PTG DTAC reamer in AICS, long or short?

I have a M700 clone coming, and will not be using the AW mags.

PTG has two reamers for the DTACs. The 30266 is shorter for use with the AICS mags, the 30267 is longer for the AW mags. Any recommendations on this? Right now it looks like I should use the shorter reamer, PTG#30266.

Is there some way I can use the long reamer and still use the AICS mags? Searches on the Hide showed something about notching the receiver for long COALs, however I am still unsure about how long the reamer can be.

Just throwing this out there cause I don't know the exact differences....If you are primarily going to shoot 115's then get the long.If you want to shoot both 105's and 115's then the shorter version.

My 6x47L reamer is set up for 115's only so I can seat out of the neck/shoulder junction but there's still lots of room left in the AI mags.

Re: Which PTG DTAC reamer in AICS, long or short?

Well both reamers are expressly designed for the 115 DTACs. However the short reamer necessitates seating the bullet further into the case.

The short reamer was designed to work with the AICS mags, however there may be some way to use the long reamer with the shorter mags. I know that a strip in the mag can be removed for more room, but do not know sufficient details.

You can do this but you will also need to notch the feed ramp to clear the bullet tip.

HateCA,

So you are saying that I can use the long DTAC reamer, modify the AICS mags, notch the feed ramp, and it should work? Thanks for the help.
