I want to build a long range rifle based on either of these two cartridges.
338/378 Weatherby or 338 Lapua.
Would someone kindly please advise which Stiller action and which bottom metal and magazine combination in either Badger, Seekins or Wyatts Entended either staggered or single stack is the most suitable for the following purposes.
I wish to load/use the 300 Sierra Match King (300SMK) or the new hybrid 338 300 grain Berger at maximun COAL for long range shooting.

Stiller has a TAC 338 action that is designed around the 338 Lapua round. They can also set it up for any bottom metal you wish. So just decide what magazine system you like best and tell them when you order the action.

If this is going to be a target/match rifle, i'm going to recommend against being mag fed. Seekins bottom metal will give you the longest coal but, you'll still need to put too much of the bullet in the case when dealing with the 300's. With those 2 cartridges running the 300's I recommend running a single shot action. That will allow you to get the most out of the system.

If its a hunting rifle and you feel the mag is necessary, run a 338 Norma and make better use of the mag space. I have a 338 edge with the Seekins dbm system and wish id gone with a s.s. setup. Too much boiler room is taken up by the projectile. Feeding is sketchy at best with this dbm so, I just run it as a single shot.

If you decide to run the seekins, I have a couple new mags i'll make you a deal on if we can figure out shipping.

The rifle is intended to be used as a walk and stalk hunting rifle.
I believe the ACI or AWS magazine length for a Lapua 338 build will comfortably accomodate a 250 grain bullet but not a 300 grainer..
If I am to use a 300 SMK or Berger then it would need to be seated deeper into the case and this would then reduce my maximum powder capacity for the 300 grain pill.
I believe Seekins make a longer mag but not sure that it will fit the Tac338 or Predator

You mentioned....They can also set it up for any bottom metal you wish[/b]. So just decide what magazine system you like best and tell them when you order the action. [/quote]

My smith told me that the Tac338 cannot accommodate the Seekins magazine.
This is what has me somewhat confused, hence the reason for this post
