Re: Which Super Sniper Glass For MK12

I have a 2.5 to 10 on mine. I am going to put that on one of my 22s and put a straight 10 power on my spr. So I vote straight 10 power. How often do you plan on using anything less than 10? I never did...I just left mine on 10 and never touched it. Alot of folks get cought up in variable power yet only use one setting and leave it there on most of their scopes. So cut the crap and go with a straight power scope. My 2 cents

The 3x on the low end does very well when shooting 50-100m, and 9x on the top end will easily get you out as far as the effective range of the rifle.

A fixed 10x inside 200yds is difficult to work with without a lot of practice and experience. If you intend on running it at the closer ranges for any kind of speed, go with the variable.

Also the HD glass on the 3-9x is excellent in case you are wondering about the higher price for it.

Re: Which Super Sniper Glass For MK12

The 3-9 is the way to go. Its worth the extra of the fixed 10x SS scopes for an an SPR type rifle. I have one my my MK12 setup and couldn't imagine anything better. Its probably one of the best values in optics out there right now in terms of cost and performance.

Re: Which Super Sniper Glass For MK12

Well, if you want it to be official you could get a used Leupold M3 or similar. I have seen them go for 6-700 which isn't that far from 500.

IMO the best thing out right now for that price is the bushnell 3-12 FFP, it's 544 all over the place on sale. Also they don't appear to be changing their model lineup so once the sale is over it'll be back to 700.

IIRC the 3-9's don't have HD glass but it is better glass than in the basic 300 buck models.

Re: Which Super Sniper Glass For MK12

I personally like the 16x myself, Ive had a 10x but at extended yardages it gets tough to see. Ive also had a 20x but the clarity starts to deminish as you go higher. Since then I have sold both and both 2 16x instead and love them. The 16x is perfect and still super clear.

Re: Which Super Sniper Glass For MK12

3X9 FFP Super Sniper, 3x12 FFP Bushnell Elite 4200, or 2.5x10 SFP Vortex PST.

I have the 3x12 FFP Bushnell and love it. I think you can find them at Natchez for $550.00. However, the 3x9 Super Sniper is no joke, they are well made and the glass is decent. Have not gotten my hands on a Vortex PST yet, but they have some nice features and I like a SFP scope in low power.

Re: Which Super Sniper Glass For MK12

I own two of the SWFA SS 3-9X42 and believe it is the best choice for a SPR or DMR for under $1,200.00. I shoot steel out to 800 yards with good results. The 3X setting works better than you would think at close range and in low light because the thick outer parts of the cross hair "grow" towards the center at low power. Rugged, great glass, percise adjustments, lifetime warranty backed up by good people. Whats not to like? Plus there is a SH 10% discount code that brings the price down by 10%.

Re: Which Super Sniper Glass For MK12

I just took off my Bushnell elite fixed 10x and am putting on the SS 10X, I think the glass is a lil better and the turrets as well however now I need to get a set of 30mm rings, I have a nice set of 1", if you go that route.

Re: Which Super Sniper Glass For MK12

I have a 10x HD and it is awesome. I know they are a little out of your price range ($799 if I remember correctly) but well worth it. Wait to find a used one and I bet you could get close to $500. SWFA also has "demo scopes" that ar sold with the factory warranty like new ones. I bought a "demo B" that was described as "previously mounted, possible ring marks and light scratches on tube" The thing was spotless when I got it, couldn't tell the difference between it and a "new" scope. Payed $670 if I remember correctly.

Besides giving up the FOV at close range the fixed 10x is fine.

I remember a while back reading something saying it was, but it may have instead been a comment saying it is just a higher quality than the non-HD models. In any case, I can't find where I read that at. It is excellent glass though and I can't any fault with it at that price point.
