Info on this reticle had been hard to come by, but now that some images are out on it, I'm impressed. My complaint with the SKMR 3 is that the vertical has .5 mil increments. It was enough to turn me away from the Kahles 525. With the SKMR4 having .2, it's back in the equation for me. I'll want to get some time behind one to determine if the uneven nature of the reticle will be distracting, but I like what I see so far.

It’s literally just a skmr3 with .2 in the vertical (but not the tree) and solid ticks instead of open on the tree.

Almost like they wanted to say they released something, but not really.

Everyone is different, but I think anyone who likes skmr but wanted a more detailed tree would have been happier with something like this:

Agreed. I wonder if there was either a patent issue or someone there with a strong opinion that the mid-mark (.5 mil) had to be maintained.

Still, the lack of more detail had kept me away from the SKMR3. Despite the disdain exhibited here, the SKMR4 is something that brought Kahles back into consideration.

I don’t think Skmr4 is “bad.” Just not a big leap forward. I’d lean towards the strong opinion part as a lot of the reasoning.

So which one is it: the top or the bottom?
