This upper has been in the works for 2 years now, but its always been on the backburner. Im ready now with all the parts, I just need someone to screw it together for me. There are no reputable builders within 100 miles of me, and I dont want to mess with it. I dont have the tools or skills. I'm thinking of sending it to Rainier Arms. They want 100 dollars to build it. Is that insane? Gas key needs staking and headspace checked and all.

Specs for shits and giggles:
-Mega billet side charging upper
-Young MFG side charging national match BCG
-generic charging handle
-Rainier Arms UltraMatch 18" SPR barrel
-SJC Titan brake
-Yankee Hill smooth modular handguard

I also need a new handguard assembled on my M&P15 VTAC, I got a DD Lite rail and clamp on A2 FSB for it and need it screwed on. I didnt really want to pay 100 bucks just to have a handguard switched out, but I cant do it myself.

Your is Houston and you think there are no gun smiths within 100 miles of you? Go visit Spring Guns and Ammo and talk to Ryan. He is a good smith and good guy. I'm sure he will get you fixed up.

Im in Beaumont now. I could spend 100 at Rainier and still almost be cheaper than driving to Houston.

An AR is simple to put together so i would do it myself if i were you. You could buy the tools including go and nogo headspace gauges and be a little more the 100 they would charge you. That way your good to go on any future work as well. Headspace is pretty well set on an AR if you bought a barrel with the extension on it already. The headspace gauges will just help you verify it.
