Yup, the same.

It seems like anytime you wonder about the lineage of a "house brand" barrel the answer comes back Shaw. Honestly its sorta what I thought they were too. Just hope the Brownells ones are better than A&B tubes.

Any chance of a link or some info would be awesome! Thanks guys!

Re: Who's tubes does Brownells use?

I don't think they are actually listed as brownells blanks anymore and now they are listed as Shaw, The savage barrels are the same I think.

Re: Who's tubes does Brownells use?

Just went through my brownells order history. Back in 2007 I purchased one of the "Brownells" pre-fits. Was a #3 Varmint Contour SS barrel, Looking at the current offerings that will be a shaw contour. I used that barrel to build a 6mmX284 and it was a great shooting stick for the money I had into it.

Re: Who's tubes does Brownells use?

I have been getting Brownell's catalogs since 86ish. Can't remember what year they started but remember them listed as 'Brownell/Shilen' threaded short chambered barrels. Price was only $30-40 IIRC more than a regular Shilen stainless etc so my thoughts at the time were 'how the hell can they thread and chamber them for that piddlly amount'. Can't remember now if info came from a smith friend or what but there was talk of them being Shilen's lesser quaility Lone Star blanks. That was some time back so perhaps things have changed!!! Didn't bother to save old catalogs so can't prove it.
