Night Vision Why Can I See My Trailer Lights Flashing...

Under NODS when there is no key in the ignition and the engine not running. I was out in the field tonight, turned around to walk back to the house and observed the flashing on and off on my trailer. I unplugged the pig tail and naturally it stopped but this cannot be seen without the PVS-14’s on. I am puzzled....

You’ve got low current seep coming from somewhere.

You are seeing light emitted by a bulb checking circuit. It is checking to see if a bulb is out by running ultra low current through it periodically.

This is very annoying for us NODS folks.

LED trailer lights? It takes very little energy to get enough to flash them. I have seen it before with my 2015 Ford F350 and my gooseneck trailer that we were using to hunt off of. I think it's part of the body control module checking the connection. Since the 4 way flashers and brake lights work no matter whether the key is in the ignition or not this could occur in any condition.
