Why do we allow?

Thats nothing new, gunfighter. Think about the real qualifications of a lot of early voters. While they may have planted gardens and killed food, many if not most, most were illiterate bumpkins who couldnt read or write and had no idea what the issues really were. I suppose that being self supporting, and not a worthless parasite, does give some qualification.

Well, since voting doesn't matter thanks to the Electoral College, I guess you don't have to worry about "inadequate" people casting votes. I'm assuming this was a question about presidential elections?

My thoughts are that the idea of citizenship needs to be changed . I would start with 2-3 years of military service or if medically unable some type of auxiliary . One needs to contribute and earn it . Second if you don't contribute in that way you do not get welfare or Social Security but you can still pay into it . I think a lot of attitudes would change real quick . No more generational welfare . Also welfare should be like unemployment .If you never worked you never get . Want to move here from another country and park your ass . No more , contribute and earn it or get the fuck out . Sorry no se habla douche bag .

While were on if you're to incompetent to do this why should you be able to do that ? If you can't fuckin feed yourself you don't get to have kids effin whore .

Well, there is that whole "freedom" thing and all...

But still - I'm with you...

The founders limited voting to landowners. Land was freely given through land grants at the time, as long as the land was improved (read worked).

Once again the founders knew what they were doing, yet somewhere along the way, we thought we knew better.
