Why is inventory always so low in winter

Trend I've noticed over the years, during winter EVERYTHING goes outta stock. Was looking around at building a rifle and most (not all) of the custom actions are out of stock and the big hitters for barrels as well. Any clue why this happens every winter? About 10 years ago when I was doing a semi-auto--same thing invetory dried up in January and then surged back in Spring.

Also I hate waiting and not going on backorder again.

People up north are inside the house, drinking and shopping.

People down south are bitching about how all the other northerners need to go back home.

In some situations it is tax related. Year end inventory could be taxed in some states.

Custom actions sell out all the time, not just winter. Just get on the notify list at the dealers, they’re usually no out of stock for more than a couple months. Same with barrels, I had a hard time finding some of the Proof prefits I wanted last summer/fall too. Stuff is made in batches and it comes and goes. Just the way it is.

And the mfers have the gall to call it “personal property tax”

They tax equipment dealers on their parts inventory.
