No thread on old advertising can be complete without some material from David Ogilvy. His book "Ogilvy on Advertising" is one of my must-reads when teaching psy-ops. He is from the "Copy heavy" era of advertising. But also had the knack for the 'punchy'' headline and great follow-up down cold.

His series of ads for Volkswagen made the Bug the top selling car in the world.

Another guy who should be called out here... Joe Sedelmaier. One of the best TV advertising guys in history.

His ads were both easy-to-identify and superbly entertaining.

One of his most famous. If I may indulge the OP by including TV ads...

Nothing made a hot ass look hotter than Ditto jeans on a young lady :)
    Remember em ?

Man, I'd almost forgotten about those...thanks for the reminder! Even as a preteen during that time, I could tell those jeans did something to highlight the attractive females, even if I didn't quite realize "what" that "what" was at the time, LOL

    Not a problem.
The girl I went out with in high school had an ass that was sublime, and she always seemed to wear Ditto jeans.
I, for one, cannot possibly forget them....or "dat ass".

Unfortunately that ass didn't make it thru her first childbirth (not mine, if it matters, we were long broken up by then).
