Gunsmithing will a 29" blank finish at 28"??....

am gonna be getting the parts ready for a new rifle build...
want it finished at 28".....

will a 29" blank finish at 28"? or should i look for 30 or 32??

If you pre bore the chamber end you should be fine. If you are reaming the whole show....ya should cut it first.

You need to cut at least 1 to 1.250" off the muzzle but the breech should be fine. Get a 30" blank and cut it to 28" after chambering. As far as chambering goes I pre drill, single point bore the drilled hole to make it concentric, use a carbide roughing reamer and hold it .250" short of the desired chamber depth and finally use a finish reamer for the final chamber deminsions.

I have shot a 260 that Roscoe built. It's a hammer.

My buddy Dave Preston has some rifles built by Roscoe and he is a fierce guy to shoot against.

Dashers are scary accurate
