I recently inherited a Winchester Model 63 in almost as new conditon. Ran the serial # and it looks like it was made in 1956. Should I shoot it or just safe it?

Re: Win model 63

A friend of mine had a pantload of pre-64's. He shot them, but took care of them. Granted, he did have some safe queens(back before anyone had a safe), but his field grade guns were GENTLY used for their intended purposes- he shot'em. Not saying you should toss it uncased behind the truck seat, but some plinking and squirrel hunting will not hurt it.

That friend had a T-bolt Browning(US made) and it was a hoot to plink with.
