Anyone using Winchester 748 for .223? I had some loads using 24.4 grains and 77 SMK sitting around and I thought I would try them today. Well, I was surprised when I shot a 1 inch group at 200 yds (5 rds). I remember I loaded them for another rifle I had and they shot like shit in that rifle. I only had the 5 rds left so I did not crono them. I am going to load up about 20 more rds and make sure it is good to go and crono them out of an 18" SPR. I am hoping it will be around 2700. I see it used alot for 55 gr. loads. Anyone using it for the 77 or 75 gr loads?

Re: Winc. 748 and 77 gr.

I load 24.5gr W748 under Nosler 77s.

2645 fps from 16" 1/9 twist Bushmaster AR bbl.

1.0-1.5 moa accurate. But in fairness, I'm running a gnarly as-issued trigger, and no bipod, just rested on whatever is handy.

Re: Winc. 748 and 77 gr.

I am new to reloading and picked up some 748 to do .223. Aside from it being super fine particles and a bit more of a pain in the butt I have seen good groups with it at range like you mentioned. I am using a colt 1-9 barrel right now that won't stabilize the 75gr stuff but it shoots the hell out of 69gr Sierra match HPBT bullets.
