Thoughts or comparison's on the better of the two. Thinking about buying 400 rds of loaded match ammo. I am thinking of either Southwest match or Federal Match. It will be shot out of a M1A Match, LMT MWS and a rock river LAR8. I typically reload everything but I need new brass. It seems more practical to buy the loaded match ammo for a buck a round and just reuse the brass. Thoughts?
Thanks,
Zach

For what you're going to spend on 400 rounds of match ammo you can buy probably 80% of what you need to reload.

I think it makes sense to buy the match ammo. Especially if it is a new stick... then you have an accuracy baseline to beat when you are handloading. I would say to have SW Ammo load them up with Lapua, which they will do, but for semi's, the brass life isn't long enough to justify the cost of Lapua. I would go with SW Ammo.

Another choice might be the new Hornady Superperformance. I bought some recently and it is some sexy looking ammo. Normally, I uniform the meplats on FGMM. The bullets are so uniform on this Superperformance that I decided it wasn't worth the effort. I haven's shot it yet, but I have read many good things.

Weidners has once fired military brass on sale $99 for 500 pcs. With a little prep work..you can load your own match grade ammo. and come out money ahed.

I use both and IMO Win is the better brass just because of case life. With my fairly hot handloads (45 grs Varget with 178 pills) I get about 4 loads from once fired FGMM brass, think I could get twice that with Win. I've found Fed. to be consistand though and I get it once fired for free so I use it quite a bit in bolt and auto loaders. If I had my choice of the two at equal investment, I'd choose Win.

I think I will give southwest a try. They have a good rep here and I am about a month or so out at least on having my new reloading room built. I just finished the french drains. Any other opinions are greatly appreciated and I thank those that took the time to respond.
