Woman tackles man fleeing police, then taunts him | KSL.com

RICHLAND, Wash. (AP) — A 40-year-old woman tackled a 20-year-old man fleeing from police in Washington state, then taunted him about being taken down by a grandmother.

Richland police Capt. Mike Cobb tells the Tri-City Herald that Becky Powell was driving by Wednesday when she saw the man run from officers. She told her husband to speed ahead of the fleeing man, and got out to confront him.

Powell says the man tried to stiff-arm her, but she felled him, pulling down his shorts in the process.

She says she got help pinning the man down and asked him how it felt to be taken down by a mother of five and a grandmother of three.

Cobb says police appreciated Powell's actions but warned people not to get involved in police matters. Cobb says the man ran because he had an outstanding warrant.

It's is dangerous for civilians to get involved with police matters, however, the police can not do it alone. There are just too many rogues in this country that are getting away with everything thats wrong. Just last week I witnessed a young couple pulling into a parking space with an old and very long automobile. they hit the car on the left and then started backing out. I walked over and said, "you'er not really leaving are you?" the girl got out and tried to say the damage was already there. REALLY? I said NO! I saw them hit it and I'm not leaving untll the owner comes out and I started writing down their lic. tag number. I could tell this really pissed them off. TUFF! We have to stop turning our backs on unacceptable behavior as it is really getting bad. I saw just last week where over 11% of vehicle accidents are hit and runs. Outrageous! What's happened to this country? It's not the one I was born in!

Sure seems like "Personal Accountability" has been replaced with "What's In It For Me?"

I think what she did was awesome. Potentially dangerous, yes; but still awesome nonetheless.

What kind of a man pulls his car up ahead of a fleeing suspect and then lets his wife get out to tackle the man while he stays in the car? She is lucky she did not get killed or seriously injured.
