Instead of getting buried in a sea of angry posts, maybe we can have a dedicated thread, and take the “High Road” by offering edifying thoughts about the beautiful life and death of a wonderful Brother in Christ — Charlie Kirk.
=====
I didn’t know Charlie Kirk particularly well. I heard him a few times, and I appreciated that he was always preaching Christ in everything he did, and his demeanor and spirit seemed to comport with those professions. What I will say is that most people who call themselves “Christians” really have no idea that Charlie got exactly what he agreed to get when he became a follower and a disciple of Christ and that, from one important perspective, his tragic murder is actually an incredibly beautiful thing!
“Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints!” Psalm 116:15
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13
Everyone loves John 3:16, and rightfully so! However, most fail to continue reading the verses that come immediately after verse 16.
“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.” John 3:19-21
Get this one FACT crystal clear in your mind mind: Darkness HATES the Light! Darkness cannot bear to be exposed by the light of truth. DARKNESS will much rather kill the messenger than be forced to deal with the message. You need to look no further than Jesus himself, and how Jesus clearly states that all true disciples WILL suffer persecution, NO EXCEPTIONS!
“Marvel not that the world hates you, because it hated me first.” John 15:18
“Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.” Matthew 5:11-12
Charlie had NO FEAR of putting himself, one of the brightest Christian lights in this very dark world, out in front of the darkness for everyone to see. He exposed the Darkness, and the Darkness HATED him for it, just like they did against his Lord and Savior. He didn’t just pay lip service to Christian values or principles. He lived the life of sacrifice that Jesus commands every disciple to live. He led by example, and not by edict. He loved people, even the ones who hated him the most, and whom he may have had the greatest disagreements with, but always tried to portray the image and likeness of Christ in all of his dealings.
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:1-2
Every disciple, great or small, is promised the same reward for following Christ even unto death. That we fill up the afflictions left behind by Christ, that we suffer with him in this life so we can reign with him in heaven for all eternity.
I find abundant evidence in everything I have seen about Charlie Kirk to support the verdict that he was a child of God, a beloved disciple in Christ, and will receive a share of that reward in glory as a result of his faithfulness unto death. Revelation 2:10
“His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” Matthew 25:23
Until we meet again at Jesus feet, beloved brother.
