Got a decent video of the fly over and a few pics of my volunteer spotter for the day. He was on the rifle as soon as the sun came up this morning and I had to take him off to pack it back up this afternoon.

Re: Worked the Moto GP today

Yes Sir. Normally the same two guys will work all three races in a year due to the difficulty in getting the credentials needed to get in. We had some issues this time around so I had to fill in at the last minute. This was the first time I was up there since 2007. Pretty good seats but the AC unit for the pagoda blows all of the hot humid air right up in our face all day so it can be uncomfortable if the wind isn't favorable.

Phylodog; very cool pic's. I once hid out under a bridge while riding my Moto Guzzi, the rain was coming down in buckets. I'm sitting under the bridge and what do I see next to me? 5-6 Praying Mantis all sitting in a row, like they were hiding out from the intense rain too, I'll never forget that.

Re: Worked the Moto GP today

We generally deploy teams to any event which draws large crowds to a facility or small area in the city. We are primarily responsible for relaying information on potential problems as they occur but always have our gear just in case.

Wow, what a view of the race! Come on, admit it you were just there to protect Jay Leno in case anyone got upset he was waving the chequered flag!

Can't believe Lorenzo only came third. Felt bad for Colin Edwards, he looked pretty miserable with the way his tyre choice turned out.

Great pics! The flyby was cool, but your little buddy rocks!

Came home last night and saw a lizard walking by the garage door. Not unusual.
All of a sudden I see a movement to the lizard's left and the lizard jumps shitless off the wall.

As I approached, I saw that the flash of motion was a Mantis that did the "stand up fast and stretch out with wings out to make a bigger predator think he's about to get eaten by an even bigger predator" defensive move.

Thought it was cool.

Re: Mantis

If I had known you were doing overwatch... Dani Pedrosa woulda had a "tire puncture"

I wish Spies would've had the pace to go flag to flag.

Nevertheless, nice to see a rookie on a satellite team beating the factory guys.

Man that flyby was slow! I'm glad we didn't do this flyby or I would've missed the race.
