when i was a kid(about 7th grade) a neighbor kid found this blade in a lake. just the blade and guard...the rest was rotted away. i had an old rusty italian(i think) milsurp that my uncle had given me that somebody had fired the wrong ammo in and blown the bareel off at about the halfway mark. we traded. i bummed a mule deer shed and piece of salted hide from the old man across the street and this is what i ended up with. ugly girls need porn too!

Now I like that! I have a weak spot for "primitive" looking and functional tools, and that really fills the bill. Those old K Bars take and hold a wicked edge, too...

glad ya'll liked it. i know i've had a lot of fun with that knife for about 38 years now. it never fails to turn a head. hell, when i was a kid i thought i was jim bridger with that thing.

mate the story with it is just as much of a reason to keep that thing around.
has an eerie sense of beauty to it.

"eerie sense of beauty"....although i've never heard it put that way, you're exactly right. the stories and the memories that go with it are such that i could never get rid of it. i've had offers for it, as ugly as it is. and besides all the sentimental rot, it's shavin sharp, holds an edge, and sits in the hand real well too. can't ask for a whole lot more than that.

That thing prolly did kill somebody. Why else would a knife be in a lake? I don't see a fisherman using it (could be wrong though). Cool looking piece though...very much primitive appeal.

In the 60's Boy Scouts used to carry sheath knives. It was no big deal back then (or before). Some kid probably lost it fishing, or playing Danial Boone.

That knife and sheath just scream dont mess with me! With that said, it has probably gutted, split more wood, feathered more tender, and finally coming from hell and back more times than any of other knife most of us carry! Great looking knife man.

thanks for the good words folks. it would be interesting to know what it has seen in it's lifetime. for the last few years it has been mostly a shelf in the den queen but all this is making me want to take the old girl huntin again.

I did notice the edge, much better than a new made in China knife, and will outlast those too. Very cool.
