I'm going to buy a egw base for my savage 10 and as if right now I'm only shooting 300 yards but may start shooting further will the 20moa base cause any probs

You'll be absolutely fine with a 20MOA base. I'm personally waiting on a 40MOA base right now for 1-600 (1000 next spring), granted my scope (SS) has tons of internal adjustment.

A 20 moa base is very common. It's so common that some custom actions are built with intergrated 20 MOA base. 20 MOA is the way to go.
