Some may or may not know, and probably don’t care, but I’m also a (unpaid) pastor at a small church here in Alabama.

In my studies preparing for tomorrow (Sunday), I ran across this nugget, written by a popular pastor from over 100 years ago, before WWI, and it completely blew my mind. Seriously, I was stunned for a few minutes. The level of detail in Bible prophecy that describes the very day we’re living in TODAY is almost unbelievable.

    Here’s an excerpted quote:

“The Lord declares that He has a hand in these matters that are a natural outcome of human selfishness, aggressiveness and greed. The Lord has to do with all this, in that at the appropriate time He granted to the world the knowledge which is stirring them up. In other words, men with sin and selfishness in their hearts are not in a position to use knowledge wisely, rightly. Without reflecting upon any person or class we can see that if the knowledge that is in the world should continue to increase, a certain few, by that increase of knowledge, would get far ahead of the others—until finally the wealth would be massed in the hands of the very few, and the whole world would become the serfs of these few. The money in the hands of the wealthy increases rapidly. On the other hand the population doubles in a century. Who cannot see that under present conditions there would eventually be nothing but slavery for the masses, governed by an autocracy?

As long as governments are strong, their overthrow will be impossible. Our thought, is that a great trouble will weaken the nations, preparatory to the period of anarchy. Such a great trouble, crippling the world financially and discrediting the rulers in the eyes of their peoples, will open the way for the anarchy. The people of former times looked upon their rulers as demi-gods. This veneration for authority still obtains to some extent, except those who are anarchists. The coming trouble is the one we have expected. It will drain the world of blood and treasure. Then the nations, sick, weak, faint, will fall a prey to Socialism, which will become anarchy. Thus in accord with the Bible predictions earth will be prepared to welcome Messiah's Kingdom as "the desire of all peoples."—Hag. 2:7.”

A few people saw this coming long before we were even born. Simply. Amazing.

All these things seemed far off when I was a kid. It seemed far off 10 years ago.

In a single year, the direction this is going and all the disparate parts colluding and allying themselves together have come into glaring clarity for anyone with eyes to see it.

I can't really claim to be deeply religious, and I'm not actively practicing. That being said, the older I get, the more impressed I am at the body of practical knowledge and the working theories of man that are present in various religions in a variety of forms. Thanks for posting this, @TheHorta !

Why does Plato not consider democracy the best form of government? In the Republic he criticizes the direct and unchecked democracy of his time precisely because of its leading features (557a-564a). Firstly, although freedom is for Plato a true value, democracy involves the danger of excessive freedom, of doing as one likes, which leads to anarchy. Secondly, equality, related to the belief that everyone has the right and equal capacity to rule, brings to politics all kinds of power-seeking individuals, motivated by personal gain rather than public good. Democracy is thus highly corruptible. It opens gates to demagogues, potential dictators, and can thus lead to tyranny.

What we are experiencing is nothing new its human nature and has been since the beginning of time. Like people before us they live under the system ruling them until they can't at which time they rise up to right the injustices . At which time they start over again only to fall back into a system that will repeat the prior system. This is all we have to work with unfortunately and sometimes we have to get rid of the bad blood to make it tolerable to go forth.

The way I see it. The stories are timeless because human nature is timeless.
There are only so many plots and stories that exist repeating in an endless cycle. The characters change but stories are the same. Doesnt matter what religion. There are warnings and lessons of morals to the stories. Good trying to take you away from human animalistic nature and bring you to a higher awareness of being and evil manipulating your human nature.

What we are seeing right now isn't simply societal, it is truly global. As in, every single country on the face of the earth.

This has never happened before. This only happens once in world history. It was foretold 2,000 years ago and it is happening right before our very eyes.

This quote is very Calvinistic. I don't only agree with it, I approve wholeheartedly. Omnipotence and omniscience put many things into the proper perspective.

"Whatever exists has already been named, and what humanity is has been known; no one can contend with God." Ecc 6:10

Good stuff, someone saw a lot more than that some 2000 years back. I believe he was called John,

    "Knowledge is Power." Thomas Jefferson

"Knowledge may be Power, but Power without Wisdom is Folly." Maggot (An original), please footnote for quotes, LOL.

    PROVERBS 4:7
    KJ21
Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom; and with all thy getting, get understanding.

Thats why he supported 'Philosopher Kings'. Having a degree in philosophy I nominate me for Kingship...or would that be Kinghood?

Anyone who hasnt read the Republic, should. Bright guy that Plato. Id also recommend The History by Herodotus.

the Tower of Babel soon followed Gods judgement. It makes sense why he confused their language and dispersed them. Sin nature will always install those who believe they’re too smart for God.

The observation @TheHorta has made in his studies all lead to one outcome, the ushering in of the new Babylon.

Its a good write-up and topic that is intriqueing, God created man, and he is imperfect..
Plato understood mans nature, of greed and power, he understood a pure Democracy's evolution leads to tyranny. Our founders understood this of course. . But this is where the parallel ends and what we're seeing now is almost pure corruption, what we are seeing is a complete flip of how our governmental system is supposed to work. It only works when we are virtue driven. So you decide for yourself.

God is incapable of creating imperfect life. when God created man he was perfect! we are the crowning achievement in His creation. Only when man ate of the tree in which God instructed them not to did we know sin. In contrast, Jesus was born perfect as was Adam, yet resisted all temptation, whereas Adam could not. This is why the Lord is considered the second Adam.

Horta’s quote is scripturally accurate and shows the truth of the matter. Sin is sin, but God has control over it and allows the terrors of it to run its course because it serves His purpose. He allowed the fruit to be eaten because it served His purpose. It was known and prepared for before time began. Today is known as well and it’s not out of His control. That much I know. Why it happens the way it does is above my pay grade so I rest in knowing He’s got it.

I agree, And while we do not know Gods secret will, we do know His given will and should be fast at work to spread the gospel.

There are a lot of things in the Bible that are exact reflections of what’s going on today and in the past few years. It’s honestly amazing and many people ignore it or too ignorant to realize that things are going to get bad if people continue to only think for themselves and lose faith in god.

Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

As close as I can figure with a limited human perspective is:

We were made in God's image. He has knowledge of all things, both good and evil and free will. Before the fall, in the Garden we didnt have that knowledge. In order to become fully 'like him, or in his full image', we need to experience free will, the flesh (as opposed to the spirit) evil and thus death and utter destruction of all 'WE' built. This (world) is that experience. In order to complete our journey we must return to perfection.

There is a story by Herman Hesse (Demian) in which he speaks of Abraxas. An explanation of Abraxas is that we are like an unborn chicken still inside the egg. In order to inherit its new life outside the egg, it must first destroy it.

Not pushing that as gospel, just my long and well considered view. YMMV

“The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born must first destroy a world. The bird flies to God. That God's name is Abraxas.”

Ill respond in terms through an Atheist perspective. I hear a lot people say that why is there one all powerful God but there is nothing done about suffering, famine, and murder? If God is all powerful then why is there so much evil ? My response; is man was created to be perfect. But man cannot be perfect he is given free will and there are always his sins. God decided that he will not cast out man, that man must realize his own sins and repent, or then be cast out. Evil is therefore built-in to the system, it is a sort of by-product of man , you cannot have one without the other. To be man is to know the difference between good and evil and persevere and reject evil.

1 John 4:4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

1 John 5:19 We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.

John 12:31 The time for judging this world has come, when Satan, the ruler of this world, will be cast out.

In the temptation of Christ, Satan showed that he had dominion over the world. If you notice, one of the temptations was Satan offering Jesus all the kingdoms of the world. Who could offer the world but that which owns it.

Lots wife, she turned around because she had not fully broken away from the sinful place, and thus was turned into a pillar of salt.
    Similarly reminds me:
    2 Thessalonians 2:10-12
    10
and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.
