Suppressors WTK: Will a 9" barrel produce supersnic .22 veloc?

Hey guys, I'm thinking of SBR'ing a GSG but the barrel will be about 9". I know my pistols with 3.5" generally shoot sub with bulk ammo but I'm wondering about 9" now. I think it's about pointless to suppress a supersonic .22. Not NEARLY as fun as subsonic.

Rule of thumb is that a 5.5 inch or shorter will keep standard velocity 22lr subsonic. I dont see why a 9inch wouldnt keep subsonic ammo subsonic.

Bulk ammo will definitely be supersonic from a 9" barrel.

If I shoot subsonic ammo from a rifle (long barrel), they most generally stay subsonic. My Walther p22 with the short barrel (around three inches) will bring supersonic down to subsonic. However, if I shoot the same Walther with the 5 inch barrel, I get a sonic "crack," with supersonic ammo. So my assumption is that a nine inch barrel will be too long to reduce a transonic or supersonic round to a subsonic velocity.

I have a ruger with a 6 7/8" barrel, it has a supersonic crack with bulk ammo, I agree with outsy, better to stay as short as possible

6" S&W 422 has a crack with Fed 550. Actually, some rounds are quiet, some have a little crack, some have the normal supersonic crack. Spectre.

I think you will be GTG if they are Standard. Vel. .22
I was just doing the same thing last week, My buddy gave me a brick of 40 grn. solids in (standard Vel.) that he had bought by mistake to shoot subsonic & suppressed out his 16" barrel .22 rifle. They were All Snapping over the speed limit out his Can .
I took them 'knowing' that I would have no problem keeping them Sub. Vel. out my 5.5" pistol & Can .
Just for shit's, I took those Std. Vel. .22 & decided to throw them out my 12" barrel. Was supprised, They All Stayed under the speed limit and were sweet grouping & Quiet .
