7 DIGIT SOLD PENDING FUNDS CMP auction M40 rifle. Comes as pictured with original certificate. Original barrel is on rifle unfortunately has been set back and chambered to 30-06. Why, no one knows. the barrel had to be set back to rechamber to 06 due to the shoulder diameter of 308 vs the case body diameter of 06 in the same location (the shoulder is larger in 308). 30-06 is also a lesser pressure round than 308. Still does not explain why... doesn't feed 06, action has not been modified. Inspector mark and a portion of the REP in an oval proof can still be seen on the barrel. First pics are from CMP the latter are the rifle in captivity. Wiped down with oil and put up.
Receiver and bolt are matching and the stock is original with rear sling swivel. The escutcheon for the front swivel is still in the stock.
Comes with an original M40 parts kit built on a 6 digit 700 SA that has been US marked and clip slotted.

1"-64 rings
1"-66 rings
original numbered base
correct vintage clip cornered base for the 7 digit
original green Redfield no rifle number on tube (4 digit number on objective ring, very light)
