X-dies, do I have to lube inside the neck?

Hey,
I'm reloading blaster ammo for my M1919a4 and to speed things up I'de like to get an X-die to minimize trimming. I like Imperial sizing wax and its not too much of a PITA as long as the inside of the neck does not need to be lubed. I understand the X-dies function differently, so is there inside neck lube required? The instructions which I found on their website just state "lube case".

If I have to lube the insides of the necks I'll probably go from imperial sizing wax to hornady one shot for time savings

"do I have to lube inside the neck? "

No. We don't HAVE to lube inside any neck with any die.

But if your die has an expander ball on the decapping rod on the sizing step you will probably have some drag as the case neck comes back over the expander ball.

The only way around it is to either get a carbide expander ball assembly or go with a bushing die. Some people dip the necks of their cases in a graphite solution or dry "mica" type lubricant.

The question is, how much friction do you want to exert on your cases die parts?

Don't need the lube as stated, like all my dies I do however take the expander out and spin it down until I can easily push it into the neck of a case that I sized in the die without the expander in there--helps minimize runout, another tip is to loosen the expander lock nut, put a FIRED case into the press, raise the ram until you feel the expander in the case mouth, and then lock down the assembly--tuning the expander so to speak.

I also used Imperial only for many many years, until I tried Hornady Unique, same sort of beast, I just like it a lot better--worth a try.
