Hey fellow hiders - just thought I would write up a little something for anyone considering buying an XLR Industries chassis. I just purchased a rifle from a fellow hider with an XLR Evolution Chassis system. Unfortunately, the cheek piece was for a right handed person, and I shoot lefty. I went on the XLR site and saw that you could purchase the ambidextrous cheek rest for $25.00. I called up XLR and spoke with Kyle. He told me that the ambidextrous cheek piece would not work without an additional piece that would also have to be changed out. At this point, he told me he would include it - AT NO ADDITIONAL charge.

About a week later, I still hadn't received the cheek pieces - so I called back earlier today. I got in touch with Kyle again, who had apparently been very busy, and somehow the order had not gotten processed. I told him it was OK, but that I had also discovered that my pistol grip was for a righty as well. He replied that he would send me an ambidextrious ergo grip FOR FREE due to his shipping snafu!

I have to say guys, I spent approximately a half hour on the phone with Kyle over the course of my two phone calls. I could NOT be more impressed with their customer service. Also, as most are already aware, the chassis system is absolutely top notch.

I am someone who will complain if a business screws me - but I'll also be sure to point out the good ones. XLR makes a great product - AND they back it up. So for anyone who is on the fence about spending the money - GO for it.

(I am not associated with XLR in any way).

Re: XLR Chassis

Apparently you've never talked to Kyle before on the forums. The man knows what he is doing, has an awesome business, and even better customer service/people skills. Many other companies need to find guys just like him to get things done. The problem is there's only one Kyle.

Re: XLR Chassis

I second OP's sentiments and posted something similar. Could you imagine if every place offered the caliber (pun definitely intended) of customer service provided by Kyle at XLR? That dude's company is going places. Good for him!

Re: XLR Chassis

I plan on buying one by christmas, not sure on which action barrel combo, i like the idea of a savage with the ability to change your own barrel but my first rifle was a remy 700. tough choice between the two but it would be intresting to see them in this chassis.
I read you can use the magpul prs on this chassis, any extra parts or any adapting needed? or simple plug and play? just curious.

Re: XLR Chassis

Thank you for taking the time to read this, Please share your comments and experiences,

I am building a bolt action target/tactical rifle in .308
My first rifle was a model 700, i know the rem 700 tactical is an excellent rifle but i am aware that switching a barrel isnt as easy as with the savage, also the action needs blueprinting.
The website also said the chassis is also available
for savage fcp-k.(heavy barrel with flutes and muzzle break:seems promising and not a bad way to start)

My question is from experience: For .308

1.which action barrel combination would you recommend?
2.Does one fit better than another?
i plant to use a usoptics scope base, 10 rd aics mag, magpul prs stock,
3. do i need any special adapting for the prs ?
4. will the both throw with smoother or shorter in comparison with either action?

Thats all i can think of for now, sorry for the million questions i am higly intrested in your product and plan to compete with it. Thanks again. J
I sent this to xlr industries a bit ago, if anyone has any feedback please comment and share pictures if you have this chassis, lets see them.

Re: XLR Chassis

Haven't spoken with him, but have stalked him with many emails before actually buying something. Great guy. good help. Can't wait to get hold of the stock

Re: XLR Chassis

i picked up a XRL chassis earlier this year, it was a great improvement over anything else i have shot. Kyle was very helpful for the entire project and it was very easy to set up and install on my R700.

Re: XLR Chassis

I just ordered an XLR and shipped up a thompson Icon barreled action to Kyle...same thing to say, he is a top notch guy. They are custom fitting the Icon to the XLR chassis. I will post pics once the 10 weeks are over. Cant wait...the thompson is a shooter and now she'll be able to use AI mags...

Hey Scarface, I have this exact rifle in the XLR Evolution. I was going to get a 10BAS-K in .308 until my funstore kept giving me the runaround about getting one in. I came across XLR and the rest, as they say, is history. I can't encourage you enough to "just do it". I am a beginner, but this rifle/chassis has been nothing but a dream to shoot. A little loud for my neighbors, but fun as hell to shoot!
