Hi all,

so my 700 has moved through a few upgrades, and I think its worth sharing!

Finally got my form 4, and now the rifle has a Thunderbeast 30P1 in olive drab attached! I can't recommend it enough. Threads on really tight, and is so quiet I feel better after a day of shooting without hearing protection with the can, than I do when I shot it with brake and double hearing protection! Really nice, eliminates my need for hearing protection with this, and the recoil reduction basically lets me stay on target at 100yds at 17x.

It does make the rifle beastly long though, so I ended up purchasing an XLR Element folder (for in/out of vehicles and storage, I can just leave the suppressor on). Great piece of equipment! I went straight for the folding mechanism to make sure it was solid, and it is well designed. Locks solid. In the folded position it doesn't lock, but there's enough spring tension there that it stays in place. with my comb adjusted to where I like it, the foam pad does bump into my cosine indicator, but that's a minor issue (I'll just put some cloth in there when storing/shipping folded, or move the comb down). Barrel channel clears my Brux Heavy Varmint contour with no issues and it looks great. I did have to spray it down in green as soon as I got it though!

And the whole system still shoots great. 100yds, did three shots to see where the zero moved, then six. The six included three shots from the 5 round mag, and three shots from the 10 round mag (same load, different box).

Enjoy the pics, if I can help with any questions let me know.

Looks very nice. I have a 700 and an Element for it and your setup looks quite similar to what I want. What's the paint/coating on the chassis? On the barrel and action?

What kind of bolt knob is that, and do you like it?

I wish you could too Struggles! I'm not far from Minnesota and it'd be nice to be able to shoot there. MN and IA both need to re evaluate their law on the issue.

SomeOtherGuy, on the stock is just the cheap duracoat camo spray paint. I didn't really prep the stock at all, so I expect to get scratch up. Doesn't bother me. The barrel/action are cerakoted in a custom color just a few shades darker than the duracoat 'khaki' color. Cerakote is nice, but instead of scratching like duracoat, it wears from rubbing in the drag bag/case/etc. The bottom line for me is regardless of the coating, I'm probably going to end up spray painting some of it anyway.

Phoenix Custom did the bolt knob (I forget which one of their options it is, I'm sure they can tell you). I like it. I never had a problem grabbing the factory bolt handle with gloves on or anything, but the larger knob just makes it a little easier, and to my surprise really helped smooth out the entire movement.
