Hi all. I am having a 6.5x47 Lapua being built and I think I found the stock I've been looking for! I'm very used to, and accurate with the M16/M4, and with that, I like the idea of the vertical grip stocks. Once I saw the XLR, I was in love at first sight! Seems pretty much a bolt-gun and AR had a kid. I myself, cannot see any cons to this stock. Is there anything I might be overlooking? I will be using this for hunting, as well as tactical/competition.

I've also been looking at these: H-S, McM, B&C, McCree...

Thanks for the help.

John

Re: XLR Evolution stock

Google Remington RACS or MSR it's what I have been saving my pennys for and waiting for.

Re: XLR Evolution stock

Unless something drops in my lap for free, I'm gonna go with the XLR. Just too sexy to not go for it. And if I'm crazy enough to NOT go with it, I'll always be wondering and second-guessing myself about it, regardless of whatever else I get... and eventualy get it in the long run to satisfy the 'what if.' Now just need to wait for a lil more of my combat pay to come in so I can order this.

I'm guessing that 'XLR' on here, is Kyle. Am I correct? Good guy, and very helpful... even though he turned down some mighty fine cigars....lol

Re: XLR Evolution stock

Standard short action weighs 3lbs 12 oz, and a superlite version is 3lbs, 5oz. from an email between myself and Kyle, of XLR, "The difference between the standard adn superlite is that there is more material on the standard around the side webbing and around the cap. Structurally, they are both sound, it just depends on if you like the sleek, slim lines of the superlite or the presince of the standard."

Price is the same. Just go to their website and see what options you want for final price. www.xlrindustries.com

IS that weight with or without the AR stock?

Re: XLR Evolution stock

I have read all of the info on your XLR site but I have to ask .... is there a left hand version for a short action Rem 700?

Re: XLR Evolution stock

Are there any other butt stock options that have been used successfully, especially anything folding?

Re: XLR Evolution stock

if you want to make it folding get a FSM ( folding stock mechanism from ASE and it should bolt right up if it is all AR compatable.

I think you can place any AR style stocks on them.

I will be getting one for a Lawton 8000 hopefuly in the new 375VM that is the plan anyway.

Re: XLR Evolution stock

REALLY interested in this stock. What kind of bipod is shown in most of the pictures, the over the top of the tube one that reminds me of an SRS?

These are greatly priced. I was thinking about a Mcree, but I kind of like the "tube gun" a little more. Still kind of a tossup.

More info would be great.

Re: XLR Evolution stock

The butt stock uses the same buffer tube as an AR platform; however, butt stocks that have a molded in anti-rotational dowel must be modified to fit. Bolt height, to trigger height, to grip height limit the space for the dowel thus the modification.

I have used an ace folder on a gentleman's stock with success.

Re: XLR Evolution stock

The bipod pictured is one we built in house and is not available for sale yet. If you want to run a top mount bipod, you can uses a standard Barrett M82 bipod as the attachment is the same.

Re: XLR Evolution stock

Looks interesting... I am emailing you via your website with some questions.
thanks,

Re: XLR Evolution stock

For those of you who are going to order an XLR:

Ran my newest build through it's paces today. This one is an M2008 in an Evolution. Being the 3rd XLR stock I've had, I pretty much knew what to expect. However this is the first one I've had that didn't use an available AR Buttstock and factory style box mag. Instead I went with the buttstock XLR builds in-house and a detachable AI 10 rounder. The XLR buttstock it is definitely the way to go! This is the most comfortable rifle I've been behind. I was able to get straight back behind the rifle with much less tension in my neck. The mag functioned flawlessly.

While we were out I also got to handle a rifle built on the superlight Evolution. Those of you who ordered one of those you are going to love it. It's an aluminum work of art!

Re: XLR Evolution stock

Can you guys post of pics of your rifles PLEASE!!! Im ordering one as well and would like a lil porn until I can get it.

Re: XLR Evolution stock

Got mine in today. Love it so far. Ill get the action dropped into it and get some pics of it all. On another note, Kyle is a great guy and I highly recommend him. Treated me right 110% and kept me updated on everything that was going on. Less than 2 weeks from order to receipt and there was a manufacturing glitch in there to boot!

Re: XLR Evolution stock

XLR, you may have said it on the thread here, and sorry if you have..but what does this XLR stock weigh for a 375 snipe tac set up????

Re: XLR Evolution stock

Very sexy! I was planning on using a TACMOD for a R700 build I am planning. I think the Evolution may have just won the bid! I have their site bookmarks for when the time comes.
