Hello guys..
New here to the forum,
Been searching the forums for years but never registered, I hang at Snipercentral. Anyway, I am finally building up my rifle now that I have the money but one thing I have never been great on is scope crap, hate it to death! Im a fan of Hathcocks advise Keep it Simple Stupid.
I have a Mauser SP66 Sniper rifle in the shop getting a full aluminum pillar bed job as we speak. I am looking at the beautiful IOR 3-12X42 but I am really interested in this 3-12x56 ZEISS with mildot scope nearby I found for a killer deal. It has a rail built into the scope for a weaver base I think. Which is what my Mauser has built onto it.
Here is an example of the scope..

My question is, if I slap that exact scope on my rifle, would I have enough MOA adjustments to get to 1000yrds? I understand Zeiss typically doesn't have much compared to other tactical scopes. Or do I just need to do a simple 500 yard zero and use a little down MOA to get back to 100 yrds or for longer range use a little MOA above my 500 yrd zero for shooting at 1000 yrds? I have used 2 leave days at work trying to figure this out and keep finding different info thought i would finally post. I typically try to figure things out myself hence rare posts at either forums.
I really love this ZEISS with built in rail and for the money they are asking for it I would HATE to pass it up, but need it to work at 1k yards or figure out how to make it get there.. I also cannot find any information on if the factory built-in Mauser SP66 weaver rail is canted or not. I'm doubting it is. I bought this back at the end of '09 and am just now getting funds for her.
Thanks guys,
JR
