I have the zeiss 600 and 800 rapid z, like it, like the glass.

I have some swarovski scopes with the regular reticle and, to my eyes the glass is better and so are the adjustments.

I have a "new to me" 7.5 lb. Borden .280 that I plan on using to shoot paper out to 600 yards and to take on hunts( out of the country, sheep or elk).

Is the new brh reticle as easy to use as the zeiss rapid z?
Is the overall quality of the new scopes, probably the lower end z3 or z5 3-10 power enough better than the zeiss to justify it?

Is the swarovski website as easy to use as the zeiss when it comes to figuring ballistics on different rounds?

Thanks

Re: Zeiss rapid z reticle vs Swarovski brh reticle

I spent some time at a store with a Z3 with the holdover reticle, there's two reticles at different thicknesses. Seemed a bit less cluttered than the RZ800, about like a thinner version of the RZ600 without the numbers.

The glass is comparable to a Conquest, looked good at both magnification stops, nice resolution, but I only checked during daylight hours.

Never tried their online calculator.
I think even the higher magnification Z3 didn't have an AO.

I have a Swaro Z3 with a BRX. Look at the info on the reticle. All of the reticle lines and dots on the lower vertical are all at 0.5 mil intervals, so if you know your drops it's no different than any other mil reticle scope. You can use JBM and figure it out. I like mine.

If you are hunting with it you may want to get a BRH. The reticle is 2FP and the one in the BRX that I have is thin enough that it can be a little hard to pick out against dark backgrounds.

I have a RZ1000 and used it in Kansas on a Deer hunt, zero at 500 yards and the reticle worked great. Now it sits in the safe after putting a NF on the rig.
