anybody use this scope with the Z1000 reticle? wondering how it compares with other high end scopes ie; SB,NF as far as clarity, repeatability etc. I have owned both the former but never a Zeiss. Curious about the opinion of Hide members.

with some small differences for the military, they are pretty much the same thing as the hensoldt. there are some differences but probably not what would be worth the extra couple of thous you would have to pay to get the hensoldt. the lenses are as good as the s and b and better than the nightforce. you will not have as much up and down as the s and b or the nightforce. you do not have the option to get 1st focal plane in the zeiss but you do in the hensoldt s and b and the nightforce. if you can live with that, they are extremely good scopes and much less than their conterpart, the hensoldt.

Mildot here. I've said it once and I'll say it again, the zeiss glass is the best. the down side is it's the "yuppie" scope of the bunch. While it is repeatable, solid and functional it lacks the robustability, yes I am now making up words, of the others.

Bang for the buck = NF
Bomb proof and you'll pay for it = S&B
Starbucks = zeiss

Don't have the victory but do have the conquest with the z1000. Am very happy with the reticle. Shot a match with targets at 220 420 and 550 yards. was able to know down steel and never touched the turrets. They say the reticle was designed for M118 equivalent. I was shooting 155 palmas at about 2800 and the reticle was pretty much on

hard to compare, they all do the job a bit different. The reticle works well for 175 smk around 2650. The victory has outstanding edge to edge, and getting a shot with off axis alignment is much easier than nxs,ior,and to me s&b. The side AO is outstanding and doesn't mush thru the ranges, showing distinct differences at the marked intervals which are in numbers and not just hash marks. turrets are .5cm so conversion to mil is easy, and if you don't like the hold over dial it in with a 100 yd zero at the 500 or centered reticle. If you do want to use the holdover at this point with 175s, the holds are 5 1/2=189 yds,bar 6 279, 6 1/2 350, bar 7 420 7 1/2 490, bar 8 558 etc.It is to the scopes credit that the sight clarity when used at the very edge on the 1000 mark is still good. When used on the lower powers some of the field is lost. the magnification ring selector is on 12x when straight up and easily felt if an increase in fov is desired for movers etc. As with all rapid z the grids at the top can be used for ranging, but the scope works best with a rangefinder, especially if one isn't using even 100 yd intervals.

Re: Zeiss victory 6-24x56T

I was forced to sell my first (I've owned 3) S&B 5-25x56, then later came into some cash, wanted to try something different, so I bought the Zeiss 6-24x72. Only the Lord God knows why...I guess the WOW factor. As far as the glass, it was WOW, but not that much more WOW than S&B. What I didn't like was the Zeiss felt...fragile. The robustness of the S&B, the "I can drive a truck over this and it'll be fine," feeling wasn't there with the Zeiss. So, I sold it. I eventually was able to re-earn another S&B 5-25x56 and even a PH 5-25x56. I'm not a working sniper; I was one of our departmental designated snipers when I was LE in Texas. One of these days I'll be able to afford a GAP rifle to put that PH on. Maybe.

Re: Zeiss victory 6-24x56T

have used the illuminated version, and feel if you are getting any scope in this group get all the bells and whistles if they are available. I seperated myself from a 5x25 s&b as the lower power range drove me crazy, couldn't even use it until about 10x. different strokes etc. Not involved with le or military so have different goals. To me the 6x24 is compact and very well proportioned compared to other makers models in this variable range. (perhaps even the best), the scope seems smaller. The target turrets have distinctive clicks, but don't have the roll off feel like an nxs, more like nf bench rest. The target turrets have a clutching mechanism similar to the zero stop on my 2.5x20 nxs which allows one to adjust the level of the turret, hence the read out of the horizontal bar indicating where you are in turns. This is really helpful when using a 20 moa or similiar rail.
