Rifle Scopes Zero debate

Re: Zero debate

Ya man, you dial to move bullet impact.

This is my understanding of what happens... this is how I rationalize things. I couldbe totally off, though... not an expert about erectors and all that crap

bullet prints low of desired POI

1=you turn the elevation knob in the direction of " bullet impact up"

2=which pushes the reticle down

3=which makes you bring the barrel up

bullet prints right of desired POI

1=you turn windage knob opposite of "bullet impact right"

2=which brings the reticle right

3=which make you move the barrel left

It's that, "without moving the rifle" part I always fall down on. lol

Re: Zero debate

Think of it like this . In your though proses .
You are aiming @ the X on the paper . You Fire a Round at the bulls-eye X . you miss & Impact in another spot on Paper .
Then, Lock the Scope Reticule center on the ( Missed shot) Bullet Hole .
Then Move the Scopes Elevation & Wind ( center- Reticule ) back to the X-bulls-eye on the paper .

That is the movement in Elevation & Wind correction that you have to make In your Scopes Erector system & MOA or MIL value it has .

Re: Zero debate

I think I'm having a hard time due to the fact that I've been shooting FFP scopes for the last 2 years. Round impacts 2 mils low I adjust 2 mils high... This puts me at my zero. I need to get out and shoot... Fuck sake.

Re: Zero debate

Set your rifle in a good padded vise. Set the cross hairs on the POA (point of aim). Take your shot. After the shot adjust the rifle so that the cross hairs are, once again, on the point of aim. WITHOUT moving the rifle, adjust the cross hairs to the point of impact. A one shot, cold bore zero.

Now, if you want your rifle to be zeroed for a different range, simply adjust the elevation to the require moa/mil and shoot a qualifying shot.

Then, if you can, get to a range that has the distance of your desired zero yardage and fire for effect.

Re: Zero debate

In your OP .
If you Hit ( 2" High ) & ( 1" Left. ) .
Then move your ( Elevation 2" Down ) & ( 1" Right ) .

There Is NO Debate here like your Title of the Thread . & It Does NOT get any easier that this .

Re: Zero debate

Thanks softcock... Calling me out... damn. Yes I over thought the process/procedure. We all have a moment... a moment that I'm not proud of to say the least.

Thanks to all for squaring me away... Must of been a long day at the office. Shut this fucking thread down.
