Seating depth, what’s acceptable variation?

Running a rcbs matchmaster micrometer seating die (223). My load is right on the verge of being compressed. You can hear a kernel or two of powder when seating.

Out of my last batch of 100 rounds , about 70 rounds are right at my desired seating depth. Another 20 rounds or so, at within .001”, and then I got a handful that are .002-.003” seated too deep.

I am measuring these using a comparator and measuring cbto. My stem is not touching the meplat.

Who do some of these rounds seat deeper than others?

I use the same press, and when I fl size, they are all dead nuts on.

What do you consider acceptable tolerance for seating depth?

Some college ‘men’ seem willing to donate testicles to ‘trans men’

I can’t tell if the woman behind this video is real or if she’s going undercover as an ardent gender activist (I think/hope the latter). What I can tell you is that she was able to find several men at Georgia State University in Atlanta (Motto: “Truth shall overcome”) who were willing to contemplate favorably donating their testicles to a “trans man” (i.e., mentally ill woman). Egypt lasted 3,000 years, and Rome and Byzantium both had thousand-year runs, but we in America seem to have reached the end stage in a mere 60 years. Talk about efficiency.
Georgia State University was founded in 1913 as a night school for technology and commerce and was initially affiliated with Georgia Tech. Then, in 1947, it was affiliated with the University of Georgia. With that background and over 50,000 students, it’s a real institution, not some fly-by-night place that hands out phony diplomas. Having said that, I’m now wondering what’s really going on at Georgia State University.
In this video, seven men (including one so-called “trans woman”) don’t run screaming in horror at the idea of giving up the family jewels to help mentally ill women pretend to be men. Instead, they’re open-minded to the point of agreeing to the idea. Only one man was initially taken aback, but then he, too, fell into line.
INSANE: College students are so brainwashed by gender ideology that they're willing to donate their own t*sticles to a trans person to "fight toxic masculinity."

— Libs of TikTok (@libsoftiktok) May 13, 2024
I understand that seven people out of 50,000 is an infinitesimally small sampling (or, more accurately, seven men out of the approximately 22,000 men who fill about 40% of the spots on campus compared to women). But wouldn’t you think that in the years before America went crazy, the number of men agreeing to this lunacy, or even contemplating it, would have been zero?
And before you discount those seven men and what they mean, consider that just a few decades ago, gay relationships were viewed unfavorably across America. Then, people began to change their minds, but they viewed same-sex marriage unfavorably. By 2015, though, America was suddenly told that same-sex marriage is in the Constitution (it was hiding behind abortion). And now, we’re inundated with the idea that something called “gender identity” is infinitely fluid and that bizarre surgeries and dangerous drugs can magically create a whole new you.
So, today, seven...tomorrow, a whole world that is testicle free (or at least has half as many testicles).

THE UPSIDE TO THIS INSANITY IS THE FACT THAT THESE "MEN" WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO SIRE ANY OFFSPRING!
SIGN THEM UP! A BUCK PER NUT!

Military traditions/heritage

I thought this might be an interesting conversation. The US military (USA/USAF/USN/USMC) all have very rich traditions and depending on their job might have some special allowances not afforded to other branches in the same service.

To start the discussion off- I was a Cavalry Scout in another life. We had some traditions with our 'Stetsons' which for everyone else is the "cowboy hat" you might recall. Whelp- there's some variance on in the Cavalry branch on who is 'authorized' to wear a Stetson (it's not an official US Army headgear) but there is a nuance to the 'cord' around that hat. Typical enlisted will have a Cavalry Stetson with a gold colored "hat band" ending with 'acorns' on either end of the cord. One of the 'honors' is the way that cord is 'looped' in the front in what is called a 'combat knot' in the Cavalry (a distinction which is supposed to be 'earned'). Officers will have a similar band but their's are a 'black & gold color' with the 'combat knots' following the same rules.

Should there be an Infantry component attached to a CAV troop- they'd be identified by a blue cord and again- 'combat knots' being something needing to be 'earned'.

It may come across as silly here in 2024 but one of the most revered Cavalry traditions that bucks Army uniform regulations is the addition of 'spurs'. As I understand it- this tradition goes back 200 years or so because it comes to horsemanship and for a young Cavalry trooper- the addition of spurs to their boots would only exacerbate their mastery of riding their horse. Additionally, the metal required to produce spurs was rather expensive about 200 years ago and to prioritize which cavalrymen would be provided spurs was dependent on them demonstrating their abilities in that profession.

Fast forward to modern day. The spur tradition still carries on in the US Cavalry but is broken down into two categories. First off- there's 'gold' spurs (which are typically made of brass). To 'earn' those spurs, there's some variance, but typically it mirrors the same requirements of performing Cavalry duties and engaging the 'enemey' the same way that the infantry earns their 'CIB'.

The other type/color of spurs is silver, and those are earned by completing what's called a 'spur ride'. This also has some semblance to what the infantry has for their 'EIB' requirements. In my case, we had a mortar platoon (11C) that went through a partially shared effort during my Spur Ride. I completed/satisfied the requirements for both but was only authorized to wear silver spurs as the EIB was only allowed to be worn by the 11 series MOS's regardless if we met or exceeded the requirements.

So I've got the Stetson w/ 'combat knots', earned my gold spurs during deployment and afterwards was one of the select few to complete the spur ride earning the silver spurs and also meeting the EIB requirements too.

Anyone else have similar stories?

SOLD Accurate Ordnance (Stiller) 223 Action w. Timney HIT

I bought this used and had Fisher T&C spin up a Wilson #4 300Blk 1:8T 16" barrel for it.

The action is super smooth and rock solid. The barrel shot lights out. I had it recently cut down to 9 in with the goal of filing a tax stamp to have a SBR, but I'm headed in the direction of messing with a Vudoo 22LR. I have no idea how the barrel will shoot since it was cut down and I haven't reassembled it since it was cut and recrowned (LPR Gunsmith in NH).

$850 shipped for the action, $1000 with the Timney HIT trigger.

If you want the barrel, I would let it go for $200. You can turn file a Form 1 and torque everything together once it is approved.

If you want you everything I would do $1100.

SOLD
