Swivel stud to arca rail adapter.

I have a couple hunting rifles that have sling swivel studs on the front of the stock. A couple of the rifles are set up with pastic stocks (Ruger American) as well as a several .22 rifles (Marlin Model 60, Rossi Rio Bravo, Savage Mark II). I have seen the Warne adapter that will convert the sling swivel stud to a picatinny rail but I am looking for something that will convert it to a Arca rail. Most of my bipod are set up for arca rail. I have tried searching because I thought I had seen something on here a while ago but can't find anything now.

Savage Mk II BVNSXP-SR 22LR - WalMart Special

Have been shooting this rifle for about a year and am quite happy. Rather than pillar bedding I want to use a barrel block and let the barrel and the action float. I do not want to cut up the Boyds All-in-one in case this pipe dream doesn't work. Anybody have a Mark II stock? I would prefer wood but might be able to make a tupper ware work. I even considered making a stock with laminated plywood.

How about some brilliant ideas.

25 Creedmoor - Best of the Creeds?

I recently discovered that people are shooting long range rifles chambered in 25 Creedmoor, and I thought this might be the ideal Creedmoor, at least in theory:
* less recoil, less drop, and more muzzle velocity than 6.5 Creed.
* heavier weight bullets with better BCs, better drift, and longer barrel life than 6 Creed.

The increased speed over 6.5 Creed would help with using it for hunting, as most bullets, especially the monos, in the small bore category thrive on 2600 fps and above speed when it comes to terminal performance. It's easier to land at that velocity when you start 100+ fps faster.

The better BCs, better drift, and extended barrel life over 6 Creed would aid in long range target shooting.

So is 25 Creed the goldilocks Creed?

I had to model it in Gordon's Reloading Tool to try to find out. I compared the following bullets out of a 24" barrel:

Target. Hunting.
6 Creed. 115 VLD. 80 TTSX-BT
25 Creed. 135 LRH. 100 TTSX-BT
6.5 Creed. 153.5 LRH. 120 TTSX-BT

Target:

For the each of the target bullet loads, I used a similar amount of Reload Swiss RS60 in GRT, which seemed to yield the best mix of velocity, %burn, Pmax, and load ratio. The 6 Creed sent the 115 gr Berger VLD at 3030 fps; the 25 Creed yielded 2900 fps with 135 gr hybrid; and the 6.5 Creed produced 2770 fps with the 153.5 gr hybrid.

With the Shooter app, I modeled the external ballistics of these three loads at 1000 yds and with a 10 mph crosswind. Here the 25 Creed came in second in drop and first in drift. The 6 Creed came in first in drop but last in drift, and the 6.5 came in last in drop and second in drift. With a 1st and 2nd place finish, the 25 Creed won in my book. It also beats the second place finisher, the 6 Creed, in barrel life. Of course all three are very capable long range target cartridges and any "wins" were achieved by small margins.

Hunting:

For each of the hunting loads I also used Reload Swiss RS60. Here in GRT the 6 Creed yielded insane velocities with the Barnes 80 gr TTSX, beating the 25 Creed's 100 gr and the 6.5 Creed's 120 gr bullets by 240 fps and 430 fps respectively, but 3500+ fps is hardly a requirement for a good hunting round. And the 6.5 Creed's 3130 fps is more than adequate to hit above 2600 fps at reasonable hunting distances, especially with the 6.5's better BCs preserving that speed over longer distances. With hunting it's hard to determine a clear winner, but here are some velocities and energies at range to help us decide.

6 Creed TTSX 80 gr (3550 fps):

2000 ft-lbs @ 50 yds
1500 ft-lbs @ 200 yds
1000 ft-lbs @ 400 yds
2600 fps @ 310 yds
2400 fps @ 390 yds

25 Creed TTSX 100 gr (3315 fps):

2000 ft-lbs @ 100 yds
1500 ft-lbs @ 260 yds
1000 ft-lbs @ 450 yds
2600 fps @ 260 yds
2400 fps @ 340 yds

6.5 Creed TTSX 120 gr (3130 fps):

2000 ft-lbs @ 160 yds
1500 ft-lbs @ 330 yds
1000 ft-lbs @ 550 yds
2600 fps @ 230 yds
2400 fps @ 320 yds

Let's say that 2000 ft-lb with at least 2400 fps (ideally 2600 fps or more for optimum monolithic bullet expansion) is enough to kill a moose with good shot placement on broadside; 1500 ft-lbs for an elk; and 1000 ft-lbs for a white tail deer. Discounting varmint hunting, how do the Creeds stack up?
Moose. Elk. White Tail.
6 Creed. 50 yd. 200 yd. 390 yd
25 Creed. 100 yd. 260 yd. 340 yd
6.5 Creed. 160 yd. 320 yd. 320 yd

It looks like 6.5 Creed is the winner in my book in the hunting category even without considering that it has a slightly larger diameter. It adds 60 yds to the range of moose and elk hunting when compared to the second place finisher, the 25 Creed, and it only gives up 20 yds on white tail due to insufficient bullet speed. 6 Creed wins with white tail at range due to its 1st in class speed and thus its maintenance of adequate bullet performance over longer distances.

The 25 Creed performs well here though too, earning second place honors with all three game types. 100 gr bullets on elk and moose might be a stretch but monos are known to punch above their weight if given adequate speed and energy.

Summary:

Target:
1st = 25 Creed
2nd = 6 Creed
3rd = 6.5 Creed

Hunting:
1st = 6.5 Creed
2nd = 25 Creed
3rd = 6 Creed

With a first and second place finish, I'd say the 25 Creedmoor is the best all around Creedmoor, with 6.5 coming in second. What did you think? Was this a fair analysis?

6 Creed would obviously have rocked the varmint hunting category, but if I analyzed this, I would have had to include 22 Creedmoor in the discussion. Also recoil differences turned out to be fairly negligible as calculated by GRT, with only 2 lb separating 6.5 from 6 Creed (with 25 Creed in the middle)

Tract vs Trijicon vs Sig

Hey all,

I find myself having a rifle which needs glass. I'm not looking to buy something right this moment but at the very least, I'm starting to look at options.

Rifle is an FN SPR in 308 with a 26" barrel. I don't really have a use for it but sometimes I can't resist buying some rifles. I suppose the use for it will be general plinking. I may try a prone match that goes out to a 1000 yards just for the heck of it too.

Ok, so I'm hoping I really don't go over $1,500 and would still prefer to spend less. I own one sig Tango6 4-24 and really like how big and bright the image is. Idk how to describe it. I'm sure my minox zp5 has way better resolution if I put them side to side. However, the image on it (zp5) looks so small and I really hate that.

I'm considering another sig since I already know I like it but am really curious in trying something different and new to me. I always like exploring other glass.

I'm considering Tract, either in 4-25 or 4.5-30.

Considering tenmile in 4.5-30.

Considering maybe a steiner t6 in 3-18.

And just maybe considering a mk4hd in 4.5-18.

Can anybody comment on any comparison between any combination of these scopes? I would really hate to buy a scope and find out it has a huge black ring around the image taking most of the viewing space up and leaving the image looking so tiny.

Thanks,

Serg

Which 2-10 for me?

I accidentally posted this in the Bolt gun forum.

I would be curious to get the glass hiveminds pointing view

I have a mini-fix in 556. 16” barrel.

Planning on leaving it that way until a 6max barrel is hopefully made available. Will be running unsupressed. Planning on using it as a utility gun as designed. Truck gun for random coyotes, thrown in the tractor when helping my Uncle hay his fields this summer. Ranges 300 and under.

Currently I have a sightron s-tac 3-16 on it. For the money the scope is great but it’s a little long/ big on a tiny gun. (see pic below)

I’m thinking a 2-10 would be perfect for the role. Not impressed with any of the 1-10 options, they all appear to be decent 1-8’s but after that the eye box is terrible.

At 10x Im not overly concerned about sfp vs FFP.

Since they are running about the same price point, would you go NF 2.5-10 NXS, or the Leupold Mark 5 2-10? I would prefer AO.

I was looking at the Steiner hx6i 2-12 but I want a simple reticle with mils. For this gun I don’t need a Christmas tree to clutter.

Both are in the same size and weight range. Both are American companies, I have had good luck with both companies. I greatly prefer to stay away from Chinese optics, no matter how great the Helos is.

I’m not looking to add a ton of weight to a very light weight utility rifle. I just want a rugged, clear, high quality piece of glass..that’s smaller than the stac at 13 inches long, and 24 oz.

Thoughts from people that may have experience with both?

6.5 Creedmoor

I'm in the process of building my 6.5 Creedmoor and I have a few boxes of their 120gr AMAX factory loads, but once those are gone it to the table. I've seen a few loads on here, but they are spread out all over the place. Figured we need a spot for all of them to go. Bullets I'm interested in using are: 130/140 Berger VLD, 120/140 AMAX, 123/139 Scenars, 142 SMK, and 142 Matrix. Haven't decided powder yet, but mostly will go wth H4831sc or H4350.

Suppressors New TBAC cans for 2024

Full message-

Brief overview:

We finally got the Ultra50 out the door. It's unbelievably awesome
TBAC-18a.jpg

We expanded the Magnus line to be 3 different lengths (K, S, and full length); each length is available in .30, .338, or .375 caliber), and each of those is available as a normal can, or with our new RR (reduced recoil / race ready) brake like the 50 has. Recoil reduction on 300WM as an example exceeds 60%.

Poster_2024.png

These are available with four different mount options, some are restricted by caliber applicability, CB, BA, HUB, SR.
I know you can't read the above table-- there is a PDF linked from the link at the top of this post.

We also added the RR option to the 338 Ultra,

Recoil reduction on 338LM is 54% where the normal can is 32%.

Seeking Alpha Testers for Ballistic Calculator

Hello everyone,

I’m working on a personal project: the development of an advanced ballistic calculator, not G based, the main feature is that anyone can build their own drag model, in few steps, without special equipment.

What I’m Looking For:
I’m seeking volunteers to act as alpha testers.
Your feedback will be invaluable in improving the application and making it as accurate and functional as possible.

Requirements for Volunteers:

-Experience with long-distance shooting and familiarity with ballistic calculators, in particular not G based.
-ELR experience is prefered.
-Wind read skills.
-minimum ability with android system
-Ability to provide detailed and constructive feedback.
-of course you need an android device! preferable with android 13, it should work on other release, but I've not time to do this test for now.

Timeline:
I expect it will take a few months to complete the project. After this period, I will ask you to use the calculator, provide detailed feedback, and report any bugs or issues.
I was a IT technician, but the company closed so now I'm looking for new job and in the meantime I'm working on this project.I can't promise that I will put it on the market(for now I can't afford to start a business), but it would be a dream that become realty.

Thank you very much for your time

Best regards

6.5 creedmoor load development

I recently got a seekins hit 6.5 creedmoor. My first creedmoor.

I wanted to try the velocity node method. I now feel I've wasted time and money.

Lapua SRM, berger 140 hybrid, h4350, cci.

Started with 0.5 increments, 40-43.5. I know berger has 42.6 as max. No heavy bolt, or primer issues.

These were only 5 round and I did not have time to shoot group size as my uncle was planting and spaying.

My ES was over 40fps until I got to 42.5. At 43 I was at 9.5. 43gr I'm 2810fps.

Between 43 and 43.5 I had my biggest jump in fps.2810-2870

I asked on reddit and got alot of crap for going over 42.5 and over 2800fps. Because they say creedmoor shoots this and why bother trying something else.

Did I waste time with velocity nodes? Is 43gr or 2800fps too much? For brass or barrel life.

I hoping this weekend I can shoot group size.

Thanks. This is my first time on here and appreciate any feedback.

Accessories WTT 17” AI 308 barrel for longer

I picked this up to try a shorty, but would really prefer something longer to match my other barrels.

Anything over 20” would be fine

AI AT / AX / AT-X 308win 17" Barrel Sage Green

Original 24" barrel cut down and threaded 5/8-24

About 900 rounds on it, still shoots great. Some scratches and blemishes on the cerakote
