243 winchester

I have always been a fan of classics and I have been wanting a 6 mm to fill in the gap in my safe. I looked at the performance of all the 6 mm's. I my opinion they don't vary too much in performance with the possible exception on the 6mm Remington. So being a classic fan I have decided to have a chassis rifle made up in 243 to go with my 338 LM. Something to shoot when I am too old to pickup the 338 LM.
My question is; would a 243 make it in an ELR match, even at 2000 yards it still might have almost 1000f/s velocity left ?

Which 2-10

I have a mini-fix in 556.

Planning on leaving it that way until a 6mac barrel is hopefully made available. Will be running unsupressed. Planning on using it as a utility gun as designed. Truck gun for random coyotes, thrown in the tractor when helping my Uncle hay his fields this summer.

Currently I have a sightron s-tac 3-16 on it. For the money the scope is great but it’s a little long.

I’m thinking a 2-10 would be perfect for the role.

It’s 10x so not overly concerned about sfp vs FFP.

Since they are running about the same price point, would you go NF 2.5-10 NXS, or the Leupold Mark 5 2-10?

I was looking at the the Steiner hx6i, but I want a simple reticle with mils. For this gun I don’t need a Christmas tree to clutter.

Both are in the same size and weight range.

I’m not looking to add a ton of weight to a very light weight utility rifle. I just want a rugged, clear, high quality piece of glass..that’s smaller than the stac at 13 inches long, and 24 oz.

338 Lapua Improved and 256 Warner Flatline Are One Helluva Combo!!!!

My newest long range target / match rig is a custom built 338 Lapua Improved built by Triggered Precision in Idaho and holy cow did I find the load it likes. After scouring the internet for 338 Improved data, I did some load development with the 300 Grain A-Tips. What was interesting with these is they grouped better at 200 yards than 100 yards but they were flying at 2960 FPS with 99 grains of Retumbo in fireformed brass into .5 MOA or less at 200 yards, 100 yard groups were around .75 MOA.

Fast forward to last week, I had some 256 Flatlines with the Tubb nose ring and called up Warner to get some starting load data. The dudes were extremely helpful and gave me a lot of good information. Long story short, one quick round of load dev. and I found my load. 102 Grains of H-1000 pushes the 256 Flatline at 3160 FPS with low single-digit SD's, and I've yet to have a group over 1/4". Anyone with an improved 338 should definitely take a look at this bullet / combo. the rest of the recipe includes fireformed and annealed Lapua brass, FGMM mag primers, custom Hornady dies, .002" neck tension, with the slug seated to have the bearing surface / boat tail junction right at the neck / shoulder junction (around .08" jump in my chamber). The rifle has a 31" 9 twist Brux with a Thunderbeast Ultra 338 on the end.

So far I have about 260 rounds through the improved and I'm really liking the cartridge, the gains over a standard Lapua seem to make it worth the effort of fireforming.

Anyone hear an update on this?

Sidearms & Scatterguns Handguns...show 'em

Figured since we gotta Bolt rifle and Semi auto picture thread in their respective sections, we ought to have a handgun pic thread to go along with em so..

Carry guns, race guns, hunting guns, old school collectible pieces, etc.. whatever ya got/wanna show off - lets see it! Maybe(hopefully?) if we get enough posts, we can turn this into a sticky..

Suppressors BOGO can from SiCo’s sale last year… still showing “in process”

Anyone else still waiting for their BOGO can from SilencerCo‘s sale last year to drop? The Hybrid 46 I bought to get the BOGO deal has been out of jail for a few months now, but the ‘free’ can (Omega 30 for me) still hasn’t been built…or at least assigned a serial number.

And I still have to do the form 4 wait after that! Kind of starting to piss me off now that I’m thinking about it.

If anyone got theirs, what was your wait time for the can from SiCo? Not the form 4 processing time, the time for SiCo to make your can.

Thanks in advance…

Firearms Remington 700 223 VSSF $800 Shipped

Remington 700 223 VSSF

Model with the earlier HS precision stock.

Has Area 419 bipod rail & EGW 20 MOA base installed. I’m the second owner, have put about 50 rounds of 40gr Nosler ballistic tips through it. Shot great.

Can also include a KRG bolt on bolt knob. It worked surprisingly well with it.

Thanks for looking

March FX 1-10x24mm Shorty Gen II Focus Question

Hi folks, I just mounted up my new march and I'm struggling a little bit with the focus. When shooting other optics with my corrective glasses I don't have to adjust the reticle focus. As in, I've never adjusted one ever except to make sure it's set approximately neutral.

With the March I have to dial it to -2 diopter in order to get it to come into focus. (I asked my wife to adjust it into focus and she dialed it to -1.75.) Even when I have it "in focus", it appears that the first and second focal plane are not in focus at the same time. I can either get the sfp cross hairs really crisp or the ffp numbers and hash marks, but not both. It's not far off, but it doesn't seem $3k awesome, either.

Anyone have first hand experience with this same optic?

Thanks
