So took a rifle a part last night. I picked up a used Rem. 700 Varmint and will be rebuilding it. Got it for a really fair price. It hadn't been shot in years and I was told it was put away and sat in a gun cabinet because the owner couldn't get it to shoot. So I bought it. I'm going to rebarrel...
The sample rounds I have at home are dated 09. I’ve got a call in to see when it started but I think it was 2008. We we’re well into making the test barrels and they had questions and we we’re going back and forth. That’s when they sent me the sample rounds so I had some for reference. The test...
Maybe....
I know it was first talked about (going to the 220gr bullet) back around 2005.
I know the very first test barrels we made for FC was late 2007 or Jan 2008 time frame but that doesn't mean they didn't get some others prior to that from someone else. If they did my guess would be...
I just went and looked at the mil spec drawing for the M2010. Yes that 300wm chamber has a standard Saami throat but the case dimensions from the neck diameter back to the belt area is +.002" bigger. Right before the belt it is .5136" vs Saami at .514" but the A191 chamber is .5117".
Also...
It can depend on when the gun was built and which chamber spec was used…..
I know for fact that at least 3 different reamers have been used…
Saami min spec
The A191 reamer
And Saami spec. +.002” size on diameters! Or what I call a production chamber spec.
Ask me how I know? We’ve made bolt...
correct.... for the most part in a good barrel the only thing you are breaking in is the throat area of the chamber. If the reamer leaves a rougher finish this will take more time to smooth out/settle in. Sometimes on a new barrel a guy thinks he has a copper fouling problem and thinks it's the...
It's a case gauge based on they're reamer spec.
So your resized brass if properly resized should drop back into that gauge. If it does your resizing die is adjusted properly.
Pretty much the same as other case gauges out there but I take it as it's set to they're chamber reamer spec...
I did mine the first time and went like a piece of cake with frosting on it. Simple pimple. Think I made like two adjustments for both and was done. Using box Hornady 168AMAX ammo and using the built in come ups on the elevation turret and was spot on the money at 400 yards.
Maybe I was just...
Twist has nothing to do with it.
The only thing where the twist is important is that it is fast enough to stabilize the bullets you are shooting.
You can shoot the 155's thru an 11 twist or a 10 twist and will be just fine. Your spin drift might be a tad more than a 12 twist but that's going...
