    I was always told just use warm water and soap. I used hot water and soap and followed with dry patches and eventually a oil patch.

    To really answer the question, no. Do not use alcohol to clean the bore. Alcohol is hygroscopic and absorbs water from the air. You don't want moisture held in your barrel which is why most people use a cleaning solvent, cleaning oil for their bores that also leaves a protecting film/coating.

    The reloading section has some good information. Marc Taylor is very helpful. I ran 300grn Lapua Scenars with Vhit N570 in my SAKO TRG-42 out to 2,000 yards.
