Not that I'm aware of. The filaments are all the same as they're wrapped onto the barrels in the manner that Proof and Carbon6 do it. The tape and weave ply packs used by a few others, including us, are pre-preg and have different modulii ply by ply.
CFRP in generally is a very good insulator through the thickness of the laminate and the heat that's conducted well goes along the length of the fibers. In general, carbon barrels are like a thermos bottle. Compared to steel or aluminum sleeving a barrel like some rimfire barrels see, the...
I can understand why this reasoning exists in the industry but it's not true. The soft (not stiff) handguards cause POI shifts in several ways:
1) Bipod loads are transmitted through the handguard and a soft handguard will put different loads into the action and the rest of the way the rifle...
I won't try to say I'm not biased for the PVA brakes... I think we make excellent products and the key I would point out here is that we've always championed the idea that a brake must not put concussion back on the shooter's body because of the detrimental reasons to health and shooting...
Folks,
Recently we've had a number of guys wanting us to rework prefits for Coups due to the extractor dragging on the bolt face. In May alone it was 5 barrels, 3 of which came from the same member. Those 3 barrels were on the date bubble where it's possible they might have been cut prior to...
Status Update on the GB:
As of COB Friday we have about 70-75% of the barrels shipped. The outstanding work is in one of two categories:
1) It's being cerakoted and all machine work has been completed.
2) It's a straggler caliber like 6mm UM and 6XC. For anyone curious as to the popularity...
The foot doesn't give a lot of preload into the joint. It looks pretty good, definitely better than some other solutions that are on the market for QC barrel changes though. What I haven't been convinced of is the day to day repeatability of the zero, and if the zero moves when the barrel gets...
I can build you whatever you'd like, though you probably want to give some of the advice in this thread some thought. There's some good input for the actions and barrels.
I would agree that a general purpose rifle doesn't need a carbon barrel.
For Prefits: PVA pioneered the prefit approach...

Here is a direct LINK for placing orders.
The group buy will go until May 15 or until all the blanks allocated for the sale have been exhausted.
Currently we are down to about 40 left.
OK, tell you what... if you're cool waiting while I get the reamer I'll buy both reamers if you place an order for a barrel and it will go on the list of chambers we cut..
Yep, that was fixed a couple months back. I mentioned in the PVA Experience thread but the discussion moved on fairly quickly and I think it got buried.
I wrote a macro to account for the change in diameter as the barrels get shorter and we incorporated it back in February or early March.
