How's the quality for the Ruger M77s now especially their barrels? I grew up shooting a Ruger M77 in 308 and would like to buy a modern day one, possibly the scout. Every since I started competing with the Mausingfield, I've grown accustomed to the Mauser type receivers. I'm not interested in building a complete rifle just yet, especially for hunting only.

A few years ago I had a m77 in 270. Had some different loads for it, but the best was 90 grain HP boat tail. I had half moa with those rounds through that rifle
My Scout is sub MOA with 168 SMKs and around 1.5 MOA with most hunting ammo I've tried. It HATES Hornady Precision Hunter though...more like 3.5 MOA.
