  • NF NX8 1-8

  • Or am I barking up the worng tree and just need a light MPVO?

Yes, I'm going to beat this topic to death.

What top end scope would you choose for 60% standard close AR stuff, but then 40% of the time reaching from 300m-800m?
Used for DMR/long range tactical comps.
Eye relief and eye box are important. We're talking odd shooting positions.
It will probably be paired with an offset RD.

All of my dope is in mils so the reticle should be a mil reticle capable of elevation holds to about 10 mils.

My thoughts:
Please correct and/or advise:
I can get a stupid good deal on the M8Xi; is that one worth the weight? I like the clean but usable DMR reticle in it and all other Steiners I've used have had excellent eye box and eye relief.
Everyone rides the Razor train. To me it seems like it sacrifices a good bit to have a 10x variable. Top end distortion, FOV, etc...? The MRAD reticle is nice though.
Haven't gotten behind either of the NF LPVO's in the field. My previous experiences with other NF's push me into being very hesitant about the eye relief and eye box.
March's lacking eye relief and eye box scare me away.

I've owned/used Vortex PST 1-4/1-6, Steiner P4Xi 1-4, Razor II 1-6, PA 1-6/1-8, SWFA 1-6, & Valdada 1-8. None of which have good enough reticles and/or magnification to run confidently past 500m.

Am I reaching beyond the philosophy of use for a LPVO?

Which one to upgrade to on my go to DMR 5.56 AR?

I don't recall asking you....

New 22 cal for varmints - What to chamber 22-250, 22-250AI, 22GT, 22 Creed?

Time for a new 22 cal barrel on my Impact action for varmints. Previously ran a standard 22-250 with 50-65 grn pills with a 1:12 twist tube. Worked well for coyotes up to 400 yards and p-dogs to 600. I am toying with the idea of heavier bullets (70-90 grn) this time around to stretch my effective range out to 600-700 yards (coyotes) and would want something to punch the occasional target at 1,000 yards with 3000-3200 fps.

I would only really consider these 4 cartage options and here are my thoughts:
22-250 (standard) thoughted for longer bullets - Pros: current reloading stockpile; Cons: case maintenance
22-250 AI - Pros: increased capacity and use of current brass; Cons: fireforming, shortened brass life, brass not head stamped properly (not huge deal)
22GT - Pros: designed for heavy bullets and good brass availability; Cons: ??? Conflicting information on load data, needed twist rate, and barrel/brass life
22 Creed - Pros: designed for heavy bullets and good brass availability; Cons: reduced barrel life.

22 Dasher - NO, buddy has one. Has to run the heavies slow (2700-2800) and has to spend hours making brass (while I watch and drink beer!)

What an I missing or not thinking about? I would ultimately prefer SRP and off the shelf brass. I think the Creed is just overkill for what I am wanting and will result in a short barrel life under varmint shoot conditions. Leaning towards the 22GT in a 1:8 twist, but don't know about the speed and stabilizing the 85-90 grns.

LD - Seating Depth Testing Increment

HI guys - quick question from brand new metallic reloader.

I have settled on a charge weight and MV, and now would like to explore impact of seating depth.

Its Berger 140 gr Hybrid Targets in a 6.5 man bun Proof SS barrel with 1,400 rounds on it. Seating .010 off of max mag length gives about .060 off of lands.

I have read a number of folks who have expressed that this bullet is pretty jump tolerant and that many are running .100 off or even more.

Right now my plan is to increment up by .010 from .060 to .100 off of lands with ten cartridges loaded at each depth to allow two five shot groups....yeah, I'm not good enough of a marksman to utterly eliminate my shooting from ammo performance so I'm thinking shoot two groups of five.

But, is this too big of an increment between depths such that I'll miss the best depth. Do I need/should reduce the depth increment to maybe like .005?

Thanks

Live Now: Cuomo going down. NY AG reports confirmation of sexual harassment

Live now, every major channel, NY AG detailing Governor Cuomo's sexual harassment and inappropriate touching including groping of breasts and buttocks, inappropriate and unwanted touching and kissing. 179 witnesses reviewed, many (at least 11) women came forward.

Will edit with conference when over.

The irony is he didn't do anything Clinton didn't do - women just hated him more.
This is considered civil is nature, only the women whose breast was groped is considered potentially criminal...as of now.

I get it, paying sucks, but look at it this way

For those confused about the changes to the PX, let me clarify a few things.

1. You don't need a subscription to use the site.
A. You only need the Subscription to start a New Post i the PX

2. You get access to the Training Videos

3. You can cancel anytime via your own account.
A. If you decide to sell, sign up
B. Once you sell, cancel it

The amount of movement in the PX is staggering. For YEARS I have been saying the PX is our biggest headache on the site. Who sold what to who and what condition was it in. He said it was New, I saw a mark.

He took 3 days to ship it when he said he shipped it the same day

I said, "I'll take it first".

We negotiated for 3 days and he made me jump through hoops and then sold it to his buddy.

Scammers ...

At one point recently after changing some of the access from Full Member to Supporter the Reports went from a 5 a day cycle to a 25 a day cycle, the amount of work to herd the Cool Cats on the board is not easy. We are trying to decide the winners and losers of a He Said, She Said debate.

New Stuff is on the way, we have invested heavily in the website over the last year +. In fact, I poured a metric of money back into the site to try and make it a better experience*.

* The Hack Attempts notwithstanding that have been constant since the election. We have been getting pounded by hack attempts and denial of service attacks. They have tried complaining about YOU the members to take us offline. We had to move our backup servers to a RED STATE. My guys are pulling their hair out. We just added an extra layer of security to combat the Resource Error.

The Resource Error page is a default page and not a true representation of the Site's Actual Resources. We have plenty of resources, they have set up bots to Reduce our Resources and ruin your experience. They are hitting us every hour with DDoS attacks. This is by design, and we have to throw whatever we can at them, as it's easier for them than it is for us.

You, Me, this website is on their radar, our traffic and Freedom to speak our mind is a threat to them. Hence the attempts to ruin the place and make it harder to use. Even the mainstream media has highlighted your posts several times in the last few years, even months. Daily Beast recently mentioned the site. That opens the doors for more attacks as they are saying to their Minions, this place goes against our liberal ideals so do your thing.

The amount of gear that passed through this site can not be quantified, I never took a dime from members for 20 years. I don't blow you up with pop-ups and ads, I try to keep the experience positive. I run the site in a way I would visit if I didn't own it. If I would do it for something else, I would consider it for here. I think the software and changes have reached a point, the traffic has reached a point that having it pay for itself is not too much ask. Capitalism right... I built it, you can, so now we work the job which was created around that.

Firearms are at a premium right now, stocks are low, demand is high, add $20 to your ad and I doubt anyone would notice. Unless it's a box of ammo, people would notice that increase.

I get it, but I appreciate it, and just no, with my personal changes taking place, the mindset is still full steam ahead. We are positioning ourselves for even more, and what that more comes, it will be included with supporter accounts, we won't nickel and dime down the road. We just need to cover all this work and the maintenance it requires.

ZCO vs S&B

I’ve been looking at the resale values on S&B scopes vs those of the ZCO scopes and it seems like the S&Bs are a lot lower than the ZCOs even though some of the Schmidts start out higher new. Is there a reason for this? Are the zero coms more desirable or are they just a new fad? The reason I ask is I have a pmii 5-25 that I was thinking about selling but I definitely don’t want to take a 1k hit when selling it.
